Hi Pineywoods,
Would you be able to pass on the kindness shown you by so many and help me out? We are considering a move to the JC area in about three years and will be up next summer to check it out. Almost every picture I see posted of the area has a sky about to explode in a thunderstorm and several people have told me the area frequently gets bad weather. Has that been your experience? Also, we're looking at JC or maybe Jonesborough. We're retiring, but will still be fairly young (55) and will have a 15 year old daughter with us. Are there areas you would rec. we stay away from? Thanks for any help you can give and would love to hear how things have turned out for you since you made the move.

Hello, Bellaroma. I will DM you in a sec. We are moved in and really enjoying our first month here in Piney Flats. This is an awesome forum, and has been so helpful to us in figuring out what's what and where to go for this and that.

While I'm here...thanks to everyone who posts on this forum. You are more helpful than you realize!

Jab, I will try to shoot some pics of the cabin when I get feeling better. I've been a mess from stress and insomnia, but will get out there soon.

Glad you moved to a farm.

Is it a dairy farm or hog farm or beef cattle farm ?

Yep...MB is right. We hope to board a couple of horses and perhaps do some therapeutic riding programs down the road when the time is right. But we do have cows on the farm, too...we let our neighbor keep them here, as he did for years before we bought the place. Less mowing...more mooing.

Well, I am certainly late to the game...guess I had better start checking in.

We moved down from Illinois, originally from Florida. Quite a change huh? Welcome to one of the most beautiful areas in the world...and I have been around! Can't ask for any thing better than east Tennessee!

Pineywoods, welcome! We moved here in 2007 from Europe. We didn't know a single soul. The area is beautiful and the people are so friendly. We have a place in Elizabethton and we are hoping to build next year. Good luck in your new venture.

Best of luck.

I visited a place near Talladega Alabama that was into offering --therapeutic riding programs--- for disabled kids and was very impressed.

The guy who started it ( great guy) said it was very rewarding.

Best of luck to you.
Wow, I am soooo jealous. But we will be moving soon. I have to think positive, right? Pray the housing market gets better here in So FL by May, so that we can move in June.
I am so happy for you.
