Restaurants Open on Thanksgiving Day
My family and I are moving over the Thanksgiving holiday and will be passing through the Kingsport/Johnson City/Bristol area on Thanksgiving day. Are there any great restaurants that serve Thanksgiving Dinner in the area?

While many resturants are open on Thanksgiving, I think you will find that the great ones will require reservations, or you will have a very long wait. Sorry.

If now is not too late, I'm hoping to make some reservations in advance (now!). Any suggestions?

I like Wellington's at the Carnegie Hotel Fine Dining in Johnson City | Wellington's Restaurant | Carnegie Hotel & Spa I'm not positive if they are open on Thanksgiving or not but I would think they would be being that they are a Hotel. Just click on the contact button and you could call them to find out.

I'd highly recommend the General Morgan Inn in nearby Greeneville. We went there last year for Thanksgiving. Their buffet is huge and scrumptious and the inn's historic atmosphere is inviting and perfect for a family meal!! Plus I love Greeneville's charming, walkable downtown - a good thing to do after you've stuffed yourself.

Doubletree Hotel (Inn?) in Johnson City usually has a Thanksgiving Dinner. I'm sure it's early enough to get reservations anywhere in the area that might be open.

Sorry, but GM Inn was not great the time I went for Thanksgiving, a few years back. Perhaps a new chef?

When I was 17-20 I was part of a program that had many functions and dinners at the GM. I never had a bad meal; in fact they were always very exquisite and tasty. Maybe they were overstretched during Thanksgiving? Not sure.

GM Inn is hardly "exquisite" - far from it. Carter on Main was indeed great. Does anybody know who bought it at auction two weeks ago?? MeadowView is pretty bad - basic buffet food. Wellington's is doing a three-course seated dinner.
