Welcome to the forums! Glad you're considering east TN as a relocation. It's beautiful here.

Nobody's going to get that info for you; that's something you'll have to do for yourself. For schools, utilize sites like greatschools.net and the search function on this and other forums.

As far as jobs in the medical field, it will be easier for you if you center on Chattanooga, Knoxville or Johnson City. There are of course medical jobs in other towns around, but the positions aren't as easy to come by. Luckily there are lots of small towns around Johnson City that might fit whatever bill you're charging.

There are two major hospital systems in NETN, Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont. I would start by looking on their websites at job listings to see what sort of positions are available right now.

I'd also pull up a map and decide how far out from Johnson City you're willing to live. A 20-30 minute commute could easily include eastern Greeneville, Erwin, Gray, Limestone/Telford, Piney Flats, Bluff City, Elizabethton. Then I'd probably start looking for info on each of these cities/communities to see if they might fit my criteria.

You may wish to do a forum search to try to find some information you're seeking, these topics do seem to come up fairly regularly here, I'm sure you'll likely find what you're looking for.

Very interesting data.. The figures for "disadvantaged students" told a story all in itself.
The sad gap between Johnson County and Johnson City school's "economically disadvantaged" students was huge; 70.4% for Johnson County compared to 46.2% for Johnson City - about the same figures as Washington County (Kingsport runs a close second at only 48%).. I didn't look at all the state's school systems but in *this* part of the world Johnson County's figures are very high in terms of disadvantaged kids although their per pupil expenditure is more than other systems.
Carter County was higher still at at 73.8%. Then there's Memphis with a stunning 85.8% of their students being described as economically disadvantaged. I hope for the kids sakes that they have Head Start programs there!
I wonder how Tennessee's figures compare with adjoining states like NC and VA..

To find those figures for Virginia you will need to search;
Bristol VA Public schools and Washington County VA public schools.

Yes, we do have head start programs here.

I was born and raised in Bristol/Abingdon Virginia and I must say that I got a wonderful education in the Washington County public schools.

Good luck!
