Default House of Ribs--Johnson City

Anyone have any recent experiences with House of Ribs?

Haven't been there in probably a decade but have been invited there this weekend. Tried to search this forum without much luck and the reviews picked up from a general internet search are less than stellar but a few years old.

Happy Thanksigiving Y'all.

It's been about 18 months since i was there but this place has been around since dirt hasn't it?

Unless they have had a complete turnover in staff, food, attitude, and pricing, I wouldn't eat there on your dime much less mine.

Never heard anything bad about it myself. I ate there with my parents about three weeks ago, first time ever. Our waitress was extremely friendly and capable, the food was really good (I got the gulf shrimp). For the three of us it was $50 so it wasn't out of this world exorbitant.

But the environs leave a little to be desired. I felt like I was somewhere where the old South aristocracy went to wither up and die. Still, good food though.

I ate there about 2 years ago. It was ok. I had the prime rib. The place is a bit pretentious with the atmosphere in a odd sort of way. For a rib place that is.

Thanks for your replies.

Yeah, my hosts are probably thinking about the glory days of House of Ribs--the 1980s. It'll be fun regardless. Always nice to visit with friends and family when I'm in the TRI.

House of Ribs? No way no how would I go there unless I heard that they had a complete turnaround. Too many other great places.

I wouldn't think of eating steak anywhere else. Upscane no, quiet yes. It's nice to hear your dinner guests.
