Default Have You Guys Tried University Parkway?

What do ya'll think about the University Parkway extension? Anyone driven through? It cuts a little time off my commute (I live right on Highland after Lamont St towards ETSU) but it's also so much easier to drive than Hillcrest Drive was!

Tons of overhead lighting though The city doesn't even bother to turn on the lights on State of Franklin going toward downtown!

I also have driven through it. I love the median not allowing left turns throughout and it does cut some time off of some commutes. I am not sure what took so long to get completed, however. Seemed like a very simple road project.

Perhaps it involved stimulus money, which determined the timeline? I don't know...I moved here in June, and was constantly surprised at the delay in opening. It has looked completed for months.

My favorite day, was in November, when they forced all traffic headed toward Market from State of Franklin, to turn left toward the VA entrance at RUSH HOUR. The cars backed up from the Market/Knob Creek intersection, all the way back beyond State of Franklin. And, if you tried to take a "shortcut," you ended up in dead-ends and stalled traffic. It took me 45 minutes to go five blocks. And I never figured out why they decided to do whatever it was they were doing, at 5 PM.

Ripshin - I got caught up in it that day also! I could not believe it! When I went through there this Tuesday I thought about that again. I got mad all over. Haha.

Yup. I got caught in it too. It would've been much simpler to just close Tennessee Street that day.

I was amazed to find out that they have already planted trees on the divider area.
