We were crossing from Troutdale area towards Damascus on Sunday Dec 20th approx mid day and within sight of the crossing of the appalachian trail area around White Tops/ Highlands parkway there was an adult orange and white young male cat laying in the road. He was laying in the slush frozen to the road and partially frozen himself. (Heavy snow on this day)

We could find no houses in sight or for miles.

I need ANY newspapers in the area or contacts to all Animal Shelters, verterinary offices or Humane Societies to advertise this boy and try to find his home.

We drove to Damascus only to be told by the police department the town has no animal services. Is this correct?????

He is now being held in a animal shelter in Madisonville TN several miles away.

First off, thank you for saving him. Many people would've never stopped.

The only Madisonville I know of is the one near Athens-Sweetwater. I'm sure this isn't the one you took him to?

As for animal shelters, that piece of country is pretty sparse. I guess you could contact Welcome to Johnson County Humane Society, Inc. - (423) 768-0896 and ask for their suggestions.

Thank you for your kind heart and for rescuing this poor cat. I hope he goes to a good home soon. All 3 of my cats and my dog are all rescues who led miserable lives before, but are now being pampered and treated like like royalty! LOL I wish I could take them ALLl in!
