Johnson City is also 20 miles closer to the ski slopes.

Check out Greeneville High School in Greeneville. It is certainly the nicest looking school in the area.

Thank you for not attributing it to D-B. I have to hand it to mbmouse for not saying anything especially after being called out for misspelling. A true lady.

I'm giggling at the turn this thread has taken. I hope I don't spell anything incorrectly. LOL
I really do not think you'll go wrong with either school. I am more familar with Kingsport City and there is a problem with some of the higher level math courses at DB, not sure if it's teacher, curriculum or student related but the failing rate is high. However, I'm sure that happens on some level at every school. Good luck with your decision.

My nephew is a junior at D-B and is doing poorly in Math, according to my Mother; the town crier. I will have to ask him his take on the situation. He's a junior, I expect to hear it is the teachers fault.

I graduated from Dobyns-Bennett HS in 1996. I loved it. I also attended Sullivan North HS for one year upon which my parents opted to pay city tuition for me to attend DB. It was an excellent school. We considered Science Hill as well, but since I am from Kingsport. There are several good high schools in the area. Science Hill is a good school. I would say they were our strongest competitor academically. I was in the Outreach/Gifted Program & Odessy of the Mind & they were always our rivals. It was good fun. I attended Georgia Tech out of state & I do have to admit I was not as prepared in Math as I should have been & a lot of my AP tests did not secure me college credit, but Tech is known for being tough I am not sure it would have made a difference which high school I went to. Either one is a great school & if you like JC better. Nice thing is when time to matriculate you are close to ETSU. :-)

I am trying to move back to the area myself...if we can find jobs. :-)
