Unhappy Opinions on white pine??

What do you think about it? I know it's small, but I've noticed there's alot of land out there available. I was very surprised when we came out to look at land & there really isn't as much as I thought there would be for sale. Seems like you need to go really far out from Knoxville.(30-40 miles)

Some nice rolling fields and land there, but too far to realistically commute to Knoxville, if you might be considering that.

Actually I commute that far, it's not that bad really. Takes about 40 minutes one way.

Depends on your past threshold for commuting. Also, depends on your wage. You have to consider that gas could go up to $4 a gallon in the foreseeable future and if that is something that could make or break you financially then I would consider being closer to Knoxville.

However, White Pine has some mountain view property for sale, you just have to poke around and drive around to see it. Not all of it actually makes it to realty listing sites from what I have seen.

Which brings up a good point, where ARE you working or planning to work. If West Knox I would then I would reconsider.

Planning on working in east Knoxville or in that area. We like the east side better then the west. My husband works in manufacturing/industrial so I don't know if there is much of that near White Pine. We've been looking in Strawberry Plains, Dandridge, New Market. He really doesn't mind commuting 30 minutes. Thanks for your help.

But he doesn't have a job, yet. Correct?

You really are going to need to know where he will be working. Are you paying cash for the land?

I'm there! lol
We're in White Pine-old timey lookin' main drag, real community spirit, friendly people.....Dollar General, Family Dollar and Food City....Sonic, Hannah's Cafe, Subway and down by the interstate, Wendy's and McDs.... great school, goes up to 8th grade and high schoolers can catch the bus there to the county high school... except for the downtown (lol, more like neighborhoods) area, it's rural....Greg commutes from here to Watts Road daily and does it in a hour or less, depending on traffic.
Morristown is just minutes away for the closest mall and WalMart.....several restaurants there as well. Jefferson City just a few more minutes away as well.

Wanna know anything else? lol

May I ask why? We went through NM on our way to Knoxville this month & looked around because of the allergy deal, but I really didn't like what I saw, no comparison to East TN!! I'd rather suffer with allergies & asthma as I always do & live somewhere nice & beautiful. Did you buy land in White Pine?
I didn't think there was anything out there, but it sounds like there are a few places.

No job, we won't be moving for a couple more years. I think if we stay around Strawberry Plains that he wouldn't need to drive too far in any direction. He's willing to drive 30 miles.
I think most of the land we will need to pay cash, probably hard to get financing on land, unless owner will finance.
