Well, I guess I have been breaking the TN law all this time.

I will probably not alter my driving a whole lot, but maybe I won't pitch a fit when the person in front of me doesn't go. At the very least, I will quit calling them "idiots".

Clearly, it is the law in Tennessee that we are supposed to stay behind the line before turning left at an intersection. We are to enter the intersection only if the way is cleared for us to proceed without stopping. Stopping beyond the white line in an intersection is against the law.
Actually, that is not a Tennessee law unless I overlooked it in the TN Code and the Knoxville Code of Ordinances. The law is you cannot block an intersection. So if you are in the intersection and the light turns red, then you can get a ticket for blocking the intersection. That is why the book tells you not to proceed into an intersection so you don't run the risk of getting caught in it when the light turns red. The driver's handbook is a guide used to teach you to be a safe, courteous driver, and teaches you the most common traffic laws. It is not intended to be used as legal authority.

That being said, no need to resort to name calling. Why waste precious energy being irritated? Trust me, the bills are going to still be sitting on the counter, the boss is still going grumble no matter what time you get there, and the little lady is always late anyway. Relax, life is too short.

I'm a native and I pull out into the intersection only at a few notorious places. I've also, however, been a delivery driver for quite a few years.

I could respond to this, but it wouldn't be a very "Tennessean" response

Don't mean to change the topic slightly, but the last response made me think of this. When I was in NJ last year, a light turned green and I got honked at! It was so hysterical, the honker becoming the honkee!! TN is starting to rub off....

It's funny you say that because when I was in NJ earlier this year, it seemed like everyone was driving so fast! And I was in south Jersey, not even on the Parkway or Turnpike
