Stuff to do?
Hey everyone,
Well i moved to Knoxville about a month ago and i absolutely love it. However now that im settled, its been a bit hard for me to meet people. Im looking for things to do where i can meet people and have fun. Im not a going to the bar or club type of person so anything outdoors, festivals, music etc. would be great. I know about Sundown in the City and that was great.. but anything else? Something i can do without being embarassed im there by myself (at least until i meet more people).
Thanks for any help you can give!!

Hi-
Welcome to the area!!!! Please tell us a little more about yourself so that we can better direct you to activities. The newspapers usually have pretty good Weekend Preview papers that outline happenings. I have to tell you that I started to type to you using the first four letters of your username on here, meth, then I decided that I would just say Hi, LOL! Again, welcome!!!
Kind regards.

Well i love outdoors stuff, music and most of all sports. I know once football season gets here i will have some busy weekends but until then, i just dont know where to go! I want to avoid the movie, dinner and reading aspect because honestly, thats all ive done since coming to knoxville. Going to church is going to help the "getting to know" people thing but i just dont know what else i could do to meet people. Im not into the walking around UT campus because i am a grad student and i already have to walk enough during the week. I dont know... what about outdoors stuff that is close?

Once a week they have dance lessons at Cotton Eyed Joe's in West Knoxville. Many people go by themselves to learn and it is a great way to meet people. If you don't have a partner for the slow dances they will pair you up with someone. I met my husband this way.
Besides the Knoxville News Sentinel, some other fun things are listed in the Metro Pulse Metro Pulse Online or here Events | Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation or here East Tennessee Events Calendar
Don't be emabarrased about going anywhere by yourself in Knoxville. There are many singles in the area who move here and have to make a go of it. I think you will find company if you just venture out. There is soooo much to do here. Good luck.

Hello Methridge,
Happy to hear that you made it up there safely and that you like it so much...I can't wait for us to move there...I am so anxious!! I just put my home on the market, and now I have to see what happens...I had to put the job situation on hold until I know more less when I will move! When I visited Knoxville in May, it seemed that the downtown area there is much to do...there are nice bars to go to, restaurants, etc.. or you can go to old city downtown...There are clubs and bars too, etc...not sure if you like that scene, but there is a lot of youth there...college kids, etc... Check out a newspaper called Metropulse, you will find a lot of good info there, or just go to Metro Pulse Online
I hope we can meet up there when we move
