Anyone have any info on road conditions on the stretch from I-81 to I-40 to I-75 running down through that area?

According to the Smartmap things aren't good right now. We have seen some improvement on 81 today but tonight might be a different story.

FWIW, my brother drove his Highlander (non-4WD) from Hartsville, SC to the Tri-Cities late this afternoon, and he had no problems going over the mountain at Sam's Gap on I-26. He said the worst stretch of road was between Johnson City and Erwin, but he still made if through just fine.
