Default moving from philly to knoxville

Hello-I'll be visiting knoxville in sept and would like to tour some areas in town. I'm looking to move there next year and would appreciate any suggestions. I'll be looking for a friendly neighborhood with small older homes. Also-is there a good sports bar in town where I can watch the Eagles game? Thanks

If you're looking for a friendly neighborhood with small, older homes, check these neighborhoods north of downtown:

Fairmont-Emoriland
Fairmont-Emoriland Neighborhood Association - Knoxville, Tennessee 37917

North Hills (my neighborhood)
North Hills Area Association

Oakwood-Lincoln Park
Oakwood Lincoln Park Neighborhood

Old North
Historic Old North Knoxville

South of downtown:
Island Home
The Island Home Park Neighborhood Association

I honestly don't know of a sports bar that would play Eagles games. But Buffalo Wild Wings has about a dozen TVs and probably could put on an Eagles game if you asked nicely.

Smile Moving from Philly

We'll watch the Eagles with you. My husband grew up in Philadelphia and I moved there in '68 right out of college to teach. (Thus, they met, fell in love, got married, and had to move because of a job transfer!). We will be Eagles and 76er's fans forever. We live in Georgia now and catch their games on ESPN (every time they choose to broadcast the Eagles). Hope you find someplace to watch and root for the green and white. We hope to be relocating to the Knoxville area early next year ourselves. Best of everything to you, laney67. Hope you find a neighborhood you love. It would be hard not to in Knoxville.

Thanks JMT and gem. I'll write when I return from my trip in september and let you know how I made out. I've enjoyed reading the posts so far and will keep doing so. Everyone seems pretty knowledgeable on the area. I was a flight attendent for 14 years and finally left to be a floral designer. It was the best thing I ever did. The job was just not that fulfilling anymore. I love to garden and hike and do outdoorsy type things so I think I'll fit right in there. Anyway, there's a big thunderstorm brewing so it's time to sit out front and chat with the neighbors!!
Thanks again
