Default Newcomers Clubs?

Anybody know of any in the Knoxville area? My husband and I would really like to meet others and gain some friends.

I would certainly be interested in the same information, amyevansmom. Hope someone passes it on to us.

There are newcomers clubs both in Knoxville and Maryville.

Tennessee Newcomers Clubs, Moms and Dads Organizations, Womens Clubs Directory

There may also be others?

Smile Newcomers Clubs

Thanks SmokyMtnGal. I will start with the MSN phone directory, but will definitely see about getting a Maryville phone directory in two weeks when hubby and I return for another visit.

Yes, I found this website, but it only lists clubs for Mommies. I'm looking for more family type clubs. Thanks, though!

We have lived in two areas in other states where someone in our subdivisions started a "Wandering Feast" group.

In both instances, shortly after moving we were invited to join in an evening with others in the neighborhood for a full course meal. One neighbor had h'orderves at their home at the designated time. Afterward, we went to the next house for a salad course, on to the organizer's for the main course, and finally at another's home for dessert and coffee.

It was a wonderful way to get to know other couples - AND taste new recipes. In the one neighborhood it was a monthly get-together and the other 4 times a year. We took turns with courses and 3 or 4 couples got off the hook of preparing anything each time.

Maybe, you would want to be the organizer, amyevansmom, in your new neighborhood. Everyone would appreciate their new neighbor, you would get to meet everyone very quickly and find other couples who may share your interests.

Just one suggestion of many that others might have.

we are moving to the area in September, and would be interested as well in a newbie club, so please let me know if you find anything, or want to set up a group.

I was a member of the New Comers club in Knoxville years ago. They only had women and only met during the day... not very condusive to couples or mothers with small children unfortunately.

Default start our own club?

I am relatively new to Maryville and am having the same issue as others here. The newcomers clubs seem geared to people who don't work or keep small children during the day. Maybe we could just start our own club?

Smile Welcome Wagon?

I haven't had a chance to check out for newcomer clubs or anything like that yet as we won't be down there for at least another week. But while doing internet research I did find the site for the welcome wagon & checked that out. All you have to do is fill out the online form, and they mail you a nice welcome package that is supposed to include coupons to local business's, info on the local area, etc.
