Sounds like CT and MA, hiknapster. Easy, easy going back when.

Nice that you could work out something for your elderly neighbor, daniellefort. What goes around comes around. See, you got free pick-up after all!

Yeah it was pure luck for free pick up. I just picked any old garbage collection number in the phone book and it happened to be the one contracted with the city.

Got to laugh about the 2 bedrooms on each side of the line though. That's just crazy.

If it were me, I would call the Economic Development Board in the county/city you are looking at. They are very knowledgeable and know what land is slotted for potential development and they should have good knowledge of what area the county is looking at for annexation.
A lot of folks forget about that office. I have called several of my local EDB offices on several occasions and have always gotten great, helpful info. Heck I called the ones in Cocke County today to get the answer to a question asked on here that no one seemed to find any concrete info on. That is a great organization for any county/city.

thanks so much for the info all of you, and mouse wrote that down, confusing to me,so cut and dry here, outside city limits, well and septic, and pay for trash. In town city water, sewer and still pay for trash, but here in the country we can burn, am sure that is not an option in Tennessee. Thanks again lots of good advice.

Yes, you can burn trash in the country in Tennessee, at least in most of Tennessee. It depends on the county. You can even burn trash in some cities/towns. During a season of low rainfall they usually suspend trash burning, otherwise yes, you can burn trash.

In Knox County you are supposed to get a permit for burning outdoors or you can be fined (although folks burn all the time without doing this). The permit is free and is good for about a month or more. You are supposed to call a number on the permit everyday to see if it is considered a safe day for burning. For a Knox County Burn Permit call 865-215-5900.
