Granite Countertop Vendor
We are considering installing granite countertops in our new house. We have them in our current home and have been very pleased. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good vendor? Like anyone else, we are looking for a good combination of quality, service and price. Please PM or email: smokymtngal@hotmail.com
Thank you in advance.

I would love to know what you find out. Granite is the way we will go when we upgrade the kitchen in our home.

I just did a quick google search:
http://www.google.com/search?client=...UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
There's quite a few on there listed.
Countertops by Granite and Marbleworks on Henson Rd
Emco-Williams on Perimeter Park
Granite Transformations on Perimeter Park
Dixie Kitchen
Volunteer Kitchen
Stonecraft USA
Staley Marble
As for reputation, a local will need to help you with that.
blessings, Shen

Thank you for doing some legwork, Shenandoah!
Thank you for locating all of those granite suppliers. We will be looking for some ourselves in the next few months.
Granite does seem to be the way to go with new or remodeled kitchens and the prices have dropped like a stone (lol) since we first used it 10 years ago.
Good luck, everyone in finding a nice piece to use for your projects.

If you're building a new home or redoing one, I'd recommend taking the Interior Design class at UT. I did and it was wonderful. It's part of their "Personal Development" community outreach programs.
The classes were good but what was really great were the field trips. We went to a kitchen and bath place, a carpet/flooring place and a fabric place and got lots of information about what's in and what's good and the pros and cons of stuff. Going with a group, I got answers to a lot of questions I wouldn't have though of asking.
We also spent time going over room arrangements and colors and sharing decorating magazines. It was very, very useful and well worth the $99 charged for the 6-week class.
The instructor is an interior designer and she teaches the class at the UT conference center downtown as well as in Oak Ridge.

Thanks for that info, knoxgarden. That does sound like a good way to become familar with area businesses that a new home owners we all would be interested in. Plus, learning something about home deco on your own can save big bucks.
