We have a friend that lives near Jones Cove. I personally would not live anywhere around there as I've said before in my posts. My friend is in law inforcement, do you want some real scary stories about the area?

You should be careful about basing life changing moves on the "rose colored glasses" type comments from this board. Most of the people posting here are real estate agents pitching the area. Can't blame them for trying to recruit outsiders in this dying market, the locals aren't buying much.

All that said, the only way I would live there would be in a well protected, guarded gated community. If you're really into meth, cockfights, dogfights, etc. you might enjoy the area. Of course much of east TN has the same. This is not at all like MN.

Best of luck to you.

Default He said it all

Totally true.....checked it out myself. It's very rural....VERY. Think Deliverance. Really. Not somewhere you'd want to be.

Default No Way Stay out of Jones Cove!!!

Deliverance Is the right way to describe it, my truck (new) lasted all of 2 weeks before it was stolen and found burnt up, I personally know and have seen a guy driving stolen vehicles ther still with others plates on them yet not be pulled over, **** fights, chopshops, then the good ol Jones cove market dont let that (christian woman fool ya) the owner, she's in on it all, its like a scary movie just hope you make it out!

It's a little community somewhere in Sevier County, outside of that I'm not sure!

we have been in the jones cove area quite a few times when we have visited the area in the last couple years, have in fact meet some of the people. The reference to the film Deliverence, was made in Cocke county by the way/ was warned that the locals do not want people moving to any areas they like to live in, heard they are sick of everyone moving there, heard this from several people, none of them being realtors. And i do find it hard to believe that this forum is full of realtors trying to sell what people don't want to buy. If you are giving all negative feedback, why are you living there? I do realize it is rural, but it is also up and coming community, have you driven through there or talked to anyone that lives there? Would love to hear your stories from your buddy in Law Enforcement and the horror stories. so waits for the stories...................not intending to be in anyway disrespectful of anyone , but so tired of being steered towards communities that are full of malls and shopping,etc... sometimes people that want to move there want rural, nice small communities, can we not fit in or what?

Wasn't Deliverence filmed in Polk county near Copper Hill and Ducktown? Cocke county may have some rough areas, but I think its a little exagerated to describe it as "Deliverence." Any depressed area in Rural Appalachia is going to have some unsightly characters, but this can often be attributed to generations of poverty and a lack of educational opportunities. That being said, I will say this. My family is from an area of Sevier Cty called Boogertown-right on the Cocke/Sevier line, not far from Pittman Center and near Jones Cove. It was nickednamed Boogertown because of all the dark spooky hollars, and questionable individuals who hailed from the area. You prob wont find Boogertown on a map, but there is a Boogertown Road. you can Mapquest to see where I am talking about. If there are locals who truly are concerned about your coming into the area, it is probably because they dont not want people snooping around their meth labs/weed patches, more than a general dislike of outsiders. One word of caution-I wouldn't go walking around on anyone's property in many parts of Sevier or Cocke County-They love to boobytrap the stash!
