So, we have our place between LaFollette and Harrogate, and it is pretty rural. My MIL has suddenly decided that she wants to leave south Florida and move to TN. She is significantly past retirement age, and in poor health, so I think she needs to be near doctors and hospitals. I also want to be more than a few minutes away, so that she doesn't get real demanding of our time, but close enough that we can help out some. I figure that means Knoxville .

She needs a condo, with a single floor. I haven’t found any prospects - I haven't found many condos, and all the condos on the 'major real estate website' have been 2 floors. Can anyone share any ideas on condo communities that might be a good fit for her?

I don't know what "major real estate website" you were using, but I did a search and found several single-story condos for sale. My parents live in a single-story condo, and the 3 other people I know who live in condos also live in single-story condos. At least here in North Knoxville/Fountain City/Halls, there is no shortage of single story condos. I don't know the names of the complexes, but I've seen several along Valley View, Buffatt Mill, Cedar Lane, Emory Road, and Broadway.

Drive around the Inskip area - take the Cedar lane exit off I-75 and head in a southeasterly direction. That will be on your side of town and there are several 1 story condo developments in the area.

I was using realtor dot com. I realize that you are limited to what the realtors are willing to load on to it, and didn't find any that appeared to be single story. I kept the search under $200,000, as I really want her to have something affordable.

Thanks for the responses. I'll look around those areas before I get a realtor involved, as I'm not certain that this isn't just wishful thinking on MIL's part. We are going to go check out the new public market on the west end after it opens, so will drive around the areas mentioned.

Yeah, I meant to add the Inskip area to my list. There are lots of single story condos around there. I'm not sure if the interstate exit is listed as Cedar Lane or Merchant Dr, but to the OP, coming from the north on I-75 it'll be Exit 108, then turn left (going back under the interstate). Merchant Drive becomes Cedar Lane after passing Ingles supermarket.

There are tons of single level condos around Knoxville. I inspect them all the time.

We live in the Inskip area of Knoxville (off of Merchant's Drive) and there are many single-floor condos in that area. Rowan Road (Griffin's Gate condos), Maple Drive (we rented a condo there through Realty Management but it was for sale at the time), and High Street (several condo developments).

There are tons. My guess is most of our condos are single level.

Hundreds of single story, as hike, jmt and all have stated. I did a quick search for areas you mentioned, and over 300 to choose from.
