Townsend is closest and it is maybe 5 miles. Maryville is the closest city that is a full line city and it is about 25 miles (guessing).

I have nothing more to add other than that Cade's Cove is one of my favorite places on the entire planet. I spent a week at a nice little cabin in Townsend shortly after my divorce, and it was the perfect place to relax and regroup.
