This week we've eaten out a lot, way more than usual.

We went to Soccer Taco on Market Square which was really, really good. The portions are huge, the salsa for the chips in the beginning is about the best I've had. The service was friendly and attentive. I'll def go back again.

We also had Fuddruckers on N Peters Rd. We had heard about it and wanted to give it a try. It was pretty good and we like how you can dress your own burger, which they did have a garden burger for us veggies.

We took a chance and tried the new Newks in the Cedar Bluff Shopping center, where the new Kroger Marketplace was built. This place is amazing! The menu was diverse and each thing we had was really great. I am a huge fan and I would suggest everyone try it. There's also one in Turkey Creek if that is easier for you to get to, but just go!

P.S. A new Indian place is opening! Its my favorite food so I need to give it a shout out. Its called Bombay Palace and it's located near Earth Fare in Turkey Creek. Its not open yet but I'll be giving a review here once it does! :-)

I've never heard of Newks. I'll have to give it a try. That new Bombay Palace will be easy for me to get to at lunch so I'm going to give it a whirl. I've tried Fuddruckers and thought is was just okay. My daughter liked it a bit more than me.

I hope you don't mind an out-of-towner posting here. The last restaurant we ate at in Knoxville was the only restaurant we ate at in Knoxville, but it was memorable-- Chandlers Deli on Magnolia Ave. My wife and I were road-tripping through the south last month, and while she was about visiting old friends and distant relatives (nothing wrong with that), I was all about eating my way through the South. We were heading from Nashville to Asheville on a Saturday and hit Knoxville in time for lunch. Yelp's contributors recommended Chandlers pretty highly. She was dubious about the location, but most of the great soul food I've eaten was found in similar neighborhoods, so on we went.

As I usually do, I had nothing but veggies-- limas, black-eyed peas, fried green tomatoes, sweet potatoes, all incredible. My wife had a terrific pulled pork sandwich. Is there better eating in town? Very likely, but it was still one of the highlights of the trip.

No arguments here. I think Chandler's Deli is fantastic. It's the best fried chicken in town, and their macaroni and cheese will knock your socks off. Nothing fancy in the slightest, but just some darn good Southern comfort food. My mom quit making collard greens after eating at Chandler's; now when she has a craving for collards, she just goes to Chandler's.

I know they have a restaurant, or at least I think they do, to eat in but Jason's Deli is awesome!

My work had box lunches brought in for an office meeting. I know Jason's is a chain ( to Hik! LOL!) but my lunch was one of the best box lunch I have ever had! I had the roast beef, on a wheat style bread, and I cannot believe how tender and delicious it was. And there was enough roast beef on it to make another sandwich, it was like 4 inches thick!! The lunch came with chips, a pickle and a generously sized chocolate chip cookie.

I'm going to guess they had it delivered from the location on Cumberland Ave., since it's closest to where I work, but it could have been from Peters Road. Regardless, I give a thumbs up to Jason's Deli for a great lunch. I am taking my husband there next month to try their rueben. He's addicted to those and everywhere we go, he has to try one!

To cyrano regarding Chandlers Deli: oh yes, the food is fabulous! Their fried chicken is one of a kind, at least to me, and how can you not love greens with your chicken and mac & cheese? LOL!

Just across the road a way is Pizza Palace and they have an excellent pulled pork sandwich. I had one just last week, with their famous onion rings. It had cole slaw on it and my gosh, it was messy and good!! My husband kept saying "is it good?" and all I could answer was "mmm-hmmm". The Lunch House is also just down the road a spell and I can't say a bad thing about that place. Just breakfast and lunch is served, but if you leave there hungry there's something wrong with you!

I believe that I have had Jason's Deli and liked it a LOT. I've been going to Lenny's for quite awhile but the quality at the one on Lovell has gone downhill.

I went to Newks and got the soup and sandwich and was underwhelmed. I paid far too much for what I got. However, the salads looked amazing! I think I just managed to order the wrong things. I went to the one at Turkey Creek and the shop is very cute.

They both have it on their menus on-line.

Places like this, Newks, Panera, Zoes etc are my favorite places to eat.
