Ye Olde Steakhouse is my favorite and they have the best Red Velvet cake.
Enjoy your visit,
Pam

Definitely Ye Olde Steakhouse. It's a Knoxville institution and was featured on Man vs. Food.

Also try:

Litton's in Fountain City. Awesome burgers on homemade buns, and they're famous for their desserts, too.

Chandler's Deli on Magnolia in East Knoxville. Don't let the name fool you, it's not a deli in the traditional sense. It's good, Southern soul food in a former Taco Bell.

Calhoun's on the River downtown. Famous for its bbq and has tons of outdoor seating overlooking the river. However, I happen to think Dead End BBQ on Sutherland has better food, including macaroni and cheese made with pimento cheese.

The Copper Cellar Group provides a solid choice for a local "chain" with good BBQ, burgers, seafood, etc. It's not the "best" local place, but it's reasonable, clean, and has always been a good experience for me.

If you plan on wandering downtown, check out Latitude 35, Trio, Coffee & Chocolate, The Bistro, and my favorite, Crown and Goose. I hear good things about most of the other restaurants downtown as well so you probably can't go wrong anywhere.

Littons for sure. I like Dead End Bar B Q, but Famous Dave's is closer to me and I go there more often for my Barbeque fix. I get my ribs naked.

Tomato Head in Market Square, or Downtown Bar & Grill if you want to have some good beer.

Were Cooking on Peters Road has the best fish sandwich around, and their burgers are pretty great too.

Yes on Ye Olde for steaks. Aubrey's has good food too.

T.D.'s BBQ on Middlebrook for ribs.

Fountain City Diner for good homemade food.
