Maynardville??
I have a few questions. . .what is the area of Maynardville like? How far is it from Clinton? How much do real estate taxes run on houses in this area? We saw a nice new construction home in this area for $150,000.
Thanks so much!

Maynardville is a small town in Union County. I've been out there a couple of times, usually passing through on my way to an auction in Luttrell. It's country.
As the crow flies, it's about 20 miles from Clinton.
But by road, it would be an hour, hour and a half, over some winding two-lanes through hills and over ridges. It's not a commute you'd want to make every day.
Look in Powell above Emory Road. That's a real nice area with well-priced homes.

Maynardville is one of the gems, if you are looking for an ivestment opportunity. Expect the housing market to double in the next 10 years... They have a brand new super market just opened and Wal-mart has purchased some land as well as some other BIG name chains..... The property is cheap and taxes are low....... Great place to live!!! Quiet and unpretentious

I second this about the roads. Since there isn't much in the town you'd be using those roads a lot, too.

Maynardville's not that far from Clinton
If you take the highway, it's about 45 minutes. Country roads might take you longer. Right now, Maynardville has a couple restaurants, diners, groceries, etc. More are coming! If you want to get into an area with real potential for growth, this is an excellent choice. For us, it is the perfect mix of quiet country living, city activities, and outdoor fun. For what you get, the commute is worth it.

Real Estate Taxes
The taxes on real estate can be found on public tax sites. That is the current value depending on the last purchase price and the new assessments since then. When you buy a house the taxes will be based on the new price and will then be assessed from that base point on. In other words whatever is assessed to a house at present will go up when it is purchased.
Maynardville is going through a boom. I see a lot of land being sold to developers up that way. I'm also working with a local couple there who are trying to buy up the land around them to slow develop around them. Good luck.

Maynardville is about 30 minutes up Hwy33, out of Halls, and yes about 45 minutes to Clinton. Home of the famous Big Ridge State park, surrounded by the beauiful Norris lake, the clenest in the area, and several great boat docks. It is rural, and growing fast.
