The reason I ask is I heard Costco is going across the border from Chattanooga in Ringgold GA... because they can sell wine in GA.

What do you mean? There isn't a Costco in Chatt.

BTW: It was the liquor stores that paid off the politicians on the wine vote. It had nothing to do with any religious group, as far as I know.

Do you know that for sure, other than the blog that is also mentioned in knoxnews (which also mentions JMT and me!)?

I think that the poster meant that they are in Chattanooga and they can go across the state line to shop at a Costco in GA. Perhaps I am wrong........?

Well, I didn't mean the Jesus part!
I got up, because I couldn't sleep. Apparently, all the excitement happens while I have my eyes are closed!

There's not a Costco in North Georgia so maybe the poster meant that Costco is merely considering building a store in the GA suburbs of Chattanooga rather than in TN because in GA they can sell liquor? Who knows.
But at any rate, I reject the notion that Costco isn't already in Knoxville (or Chattanooga) simply because they can't sell liquor. They've got a couple of stores in Memphis and a couple of stores in Nashville (and a 3rd one under development) and do just fine without selling liquor.
I could see Costco doing well in booming Maryville as well as West Knoxville and maybe even North Knox (Emory Road).

Please God no, not Maryville. I'll gladly drive to Lovell Road and keep my peace and quiet over here in Murvul. Let Knox Co. deal with the traffic and all that goes with a booming Costco.

Do you mean that we are all assuming? OH, NO.
To shed some light on the booze situation, I found this:
"Some locations have liquor stores, often kept separate in order to comply with liquor license restrictions. In some states (such as Texas), the liquor store must be owned and operated by a separate company with separate employees. In 2006, Costco won a court decision against the state of Washington allowing it to purchase wine directly from the producer, bypassing the state retail monopoly."
