Default Dog groomer Knoxville area

I need to find an experienced dog groomer. We have a 6 month old Goldendoodle who resembles a small polar bear. I have taken to the scissors on my own to cut hair away on her face but that is as far as I will go. I will certainly appreciate any information!

Hi Joycie.

I am a dog groomer in Greenville, SC.
I have considered moving to Knoxville, TN - the city seems so vibrant to me.

Some general advice about Doodles and their hair.
If you don't have one already, I highly recommend a metal comb to keep her/him brushed out between grooming sessions. You can get good ones from Groomers Choice online or via catalog, but petsmart/co ought to have some as well that are decent. Try not to wait more than 6-8 weeks between grooms - or you will get matting to the skin which is sometimes hard to detect without grooming experience. Also, typically its best to wait for puppy hair to change into adult hair before cutting the body - I believe this is about 8 months of age, but ask your groomer, when you find one.

As for groomers in the area, I don't know any, but there are two wonderful dog grooming related forums that I know of where you could likely find one:

Groomers Lounge
Petgroomer Forums

If you would like to learn more about grooming your doodle, there is a video by Jody Murphy that does a good job that is for both professionals and novices alike that you might enjoy. I believe cost is roughly $50.

Good luck!
