Sevierville folks, a question about traffic in October.
What is the weekend traffic like in Sevierville area mid-October? Is it as bad as summer tourist traffic? Are the leaf-peepers clogging the roadways around then?
Hubby wants to go to a hot rod and Corvette car show in Sevierville Oct. 20-21 and I am holding my breath thinking about getting through miles of traffic? Am I being overly pessimistic - I hope?

You are right. There will be a LOT of traffic during the event.

Thanks, hiknapster and monicaabc. I guess we
Thanks, you two. I guess being forewarned is to be prepared! I will be sure to have plenty of water and goodies to eat in the car to wait out the traffic. Now what about the other facilities that women always need?!? Skip the water.
Jeff is really, really looking forward to it.

I've been to Sevierville-PF-Gatlinburg throughout all parts of the year and for the last few years it seems like there really IS no 'off season' to the traffic! But yeah, the rod runs always up the traffic wager quite a bit... and that's prime 'autumn' season... Have fun!

Thanks a bunch, jabogitlu. I feel a little trepidation setting in!
After sitting endlessly in traffic in downtown Atlanta too many times hoping to get to the airport on time, I guess I can manage in Sevierville.
How about after midnight? Might be a good time to arrive...just maybe.

Being a native, I avoid that whole area the month of October. It's ridiculous. The old Corvette show was so much better, didn't have to compete with leaf lookers and outlet shoppers. One good/bad note is the leaves won't be nearly as colorful this year so there will be fewer folks up there looking.

I manage a gift shop in G-burg. Live in Sevierville. October is the biggest sales month for the stores due to all the leaf peepers. The traffic IS terrible. For instance...two weekends ago was the Old Car show. I left work at 10p and from just past the tunnel in G-burg going out of town towards P-Forge, I sat in traffic for 2 hours to go less than one mile. I finally cut across a local road to get home. If you come early and know some backroads, it won't be so bad. But avoid the Parkway at all costs! YUK!

Let's put it this way. The locals will chime in. There are two big huge car shows that our county schools actually shut down school early for because of the traffic. To me it isn't much better during any of the shows.

Leaf peepers, car shows bring $$ into the area. At least no road rage, no honking horns, no people swearing at you...that's my kind of traffic. You should live in So Calif
or better yet...Florida where all the blue hairs drive, they can't see, can't hear, and sit
below the dash boards. Now that's a problem with traffic !!
