Default Liberal cities near Knoxville

I currently live in conservative Farragut. I am a liberal single mother wanting to live in a somewhat liberal area in or around Knoxville. I have lived in East Nashville for 5 years and have deciced that a liberal city is where I want to raise my child.

Does anyone have any suggestions on liberal cities? Does anyone know anything about Lenior City / Loudon area? Maryville?

Thanks

Knoxville is the most liberal you'll get for the area. Asheville is about 1.5-2 hours away to the nearest, more liberal city.

In Tennessee, if you want to live in what is considered a liberal area, you pretty much have to pick a spot in one of the big 4 cities. You might find some places with a collection of liberal neighbors, but there are no liberal suburbs or small towns that I can think of.

Get out of Farragut and closer to Knoxville. In the city limits if possible. If you want really liberal then live downtown or a neighborhood to the north like Fourth and Gill, Parkridge, perhaps even Old North Knoxville. Knoxville is very, very liberal in its city core and even beyond. You can even find lots of liberals in Sequoyah Hills if you are looking for Farragut money but "old money" and not credit card maxed-out "nouveau riche."

I would consider liberal ideology to be sort of anathema to the majority of those living in Lenoir City and Maryville. Seriously. If you want liberal, live in the funky urban parts of Knoxville.

I would move back to East Nashville in a heartbeat, but I have a job in Farragut. I don't mind commuting 10 or so miles. Thanks for your responses.

Ive pondered Sequoya Hills and Fourth & Gill but I am looking to buy a house and I could not afford a house in those neighborhoods.

I really like Lenior City / Loudon / Maryville area but dont know if it would just be another Farragut for me.

Ive heard liberal things about Fountain City.

That's what I'm afraid of

I'm liberal and in Fountain City but I might be the only one.

Kidding. I know of a few more but for the most part it is conservative.

If you can afford Farragut then you can afford Fourth and Gill or better yet, just north of there. Parkridge is crazy affordable. It is in the middle of gentrifying.

I'm not sure if you know but our mayor was recently elected after trouncing her moderate opponent. She is so left that she got her start fighting for farm worker's rights next to Chavez. Knoxville - the city core - is incredibly liberal.

Stay the heck out of Lenoir City, Loudon and most of Maryville. It is very, very conservative and often far right.

I am living with a relative in Farragut. I have lived in Farragut almost all my life, except for the few years I lived in East Nashville.

Well, if you are looking to buy a house then you might want to look around Parkridge. It still has challenges but you'd probably like it. Rentals are pretty affordable throughout all of 37917.
