We have been receiving lots of ads here about Lowe's Ferry on Fort Loudon Lake. Has anyone bought or built there or know anything about it?

I wasn't able to locate and threads or posts on the TN or Knoxville forum (which to me signals - HUH?). My husband has requested (kinda nicely) that I check with all of my forum buddies.

Thanks, y'all, in advance.

Hey Gem,

I was out there two weeks ago, know people close to there. It's in Louisville, TN and one problem is it will take you at least 35-45 minutes to get to destinations in Knoxville. As a crow flys it's but a few miles, driving is a different situation due to the routes. The area is nice enough, nothing special, like most. They're really pitching that place lately, sales must be off.

Best of luck.

Smile Thanks a bunch, pdq. That answers that question.

Thanks, pdq. That helps a lot. I had the same feeling about sales not topping the charts there. We have received so many mailings from them over the last 3 or 4 months. I don't know if they got our name and address from our Maryville realtor's office or what?

I don't think we will take any time to look there. The lakes haven't been our objective in the first place and there is still soooo much to see and do in E. TN over the next several visits that I am getting stingy with my time!

I don't know a thing about Lowe's Ferry, but Louisville itself seems very far away and feels like another world. I looked there, because you could get lake property so much more reasonably than in Knoxville. But it is really isolated, down little country roads, and it takes forever to get anywhere to do anything. The sprawl will get it soon enough, so now is the smart time to buy in. But living there today takes someone who really values rural privacy.

I'm contantly in and out, doing lunch, going to movies, etc., so it didn't work at all for me. I just thought it felt lonely.

Smile Thanks for that info, goodbyehollywood. Really helps.

Thanks, goodbyehollywood. That was the impression I got as well just by its location. We have not been there yet and wondered if we should check it out next time up there.

I tend to live the same kind of life that you do. I am in and out at least once a day doing something, going someplace. Hubby doesn't mind vegging with a good book, but I think after a couple of weeks he would ask, "Hey, where is everybody?"

I tend to agree with pdq, also, that they are probably doing some heavy marketing right now to sell their lots.

Thanks, goodbyehollywood, for your input.

Think we will skip it when we come up again in 2 weeks. Yahhhh, only 2 weeks.

Default Lowe's Ferry

I am trying to locate Gemkeeper in response to a Lowe's Ferry question she posted last April. I do own a lot in Lowe's Ferry. It is a beautiful lot. It is a very nice area and close enough to the hub-bub if you are looking for it or peace and quiet can also be found. It is a developing area and getting in on the ground floor would be a good thing. However, before purchasing give me a shout.

Default Lowe's ferry

Just read your question about Lowe's Ferry Property and they have a web site that show's the layout (Site Plan). I bought property there and i cannot wait to build on it. It is real close to an Airport, Mall and a College.

I saw a flyer for this place last week at the airport. It looks like something that would be right up my alley. I seriously doubt I could afford it right now, but would love to live in something similar someday.

My husband and I might be relocating to Knoxville this summer from Austin. Lowe's ferry looks like it might be a good fit. But, I can't find anything about the builders, HOA, community around it, etc... Does anyone know? Also, can you tell me about any other areas where we can get 2+ arc. of land?

Lowe's Ferry is a development started by McKeough Land Company. Unfortunately, McKeough is in liquidation according to this article published last week...
McKeough Land Co. 'in full liquidation' | Leelanau County News, Leelanau Enterprise

However, you may get a "fire sale" rate on land from the new management company...that is if Terra Firma has the same involved in Lowe's Ferry as this one in Michigan.
