Question Dandridge Water

Does anybody know anything about the water in Dandridge? We have city water we pay for but we are getting a lot of "stuff" that is clogging up the dishwasher and washing machine. When you get water in a glass it looks nice and clear. Anybody have any suggestions? Water dept. says their water is good and meets federal guidelines. This is a new house so it can't be in the pipes.

Not sure about Dandridge but I used to live in New Market, which is the other side of the county. We were renting at the time and we SHOULD have had a water softener or filter or something on our line. We had to clean the limestone build up out of the water heater every few months. Go to Lowe's or somewhere like that and see what kind of filters or screens or a softener can be added to stop the build up. It maybe within the guidelines and the water is clear but that build up can ruin the water heater and dishwasher etc.

We have a Culligan water softener. But it does nothing except cost money every month. Plus it uses salt to soften the water and now I have high blood pressure which I suspect is because of the water softener. I will go to Lowe's and see what they can tell me. Thanks.

My sister has a similar problem in PA, her shower heads, dishwasher and faucet filters fill up with these little white bits.. but the water passing into a glass is clear, of course because of the filter. But over time, the water starts spitting because the filter/screen needs to be removed and cleaned.

It turned out the city was doing some work and replaced some of the pipes in the area and was the cause of her problems.. they won't admit to it, but it started when they were doing just that. This has been going on for a year.. it's getting a little better, I guess the debris needs to run out of the system, but the cause was probably poor quality contracted work of some sort, resulting in a nightmare for all of her Neighbors.

The call that "turbidity" and it's supposed to be ok but I hesitate to drink it. I went and bought a prefilter for my water that goes down to 5 microns which takes out most solids and installs on the mainline.

To whom do you pay your water bill? The Dandridge zip code is served by several water utilities. Contact your water department. I'm sure they would like to see a sample of your water. If they're not helpful, contact the Jefferson County Health Department. The "stuff" can be identified.

The fact that you have a new house does not preclude the problem being in the pipes. I'd ask a plumber. I get my water from Shady Grove Utility district and it is fine. I'm not sure if it comes from Jefferson City Water or Knoxville Water as SGUD sources water from both.
