Default Cades Cove Photos: Foliage?

I was at Cades Cove this morning (10/20/07). Since it was my first time there, I don't know how the foliage compares to last year at this time but personally, I didn't think it was all that great. If you have been there at this time in previous years, what do you think?

What was missing, in my opinion, were the healthy vibrant yellows and oranges. Except for the fact that a number of trees were green, the ones that had color looked to be heading toward brown. Also, in my opinion, Rich Mountain Road, ain't all that (brown, green and red - no yellow, gold or orange) and I would advise people to stick to the loop (although I saw deer on that road) for color.

Saw horses and a bear, too.

Also, it was very foggy in the early morning and when the sun began to come up it was almost zero visibility if you faced the sun and fog as you will see from the deer photos below. Although, perhaps that's why the deer didn't seem to mind the people.

But, if you really want to know what I thought was strange was a lack of birds. Saw a few blackbirds, that's it.

Will do photos in 3 posts.

P.S. If it's going to be bumper to bumper anyway, I suggest not arriving until 10:00A when the fog has lifted.

That 7th photo with the red and the green is Rich Mountain Road. The whole road looked like that --- boring. There was more color variation on the loop.

Also, if you are a first time goer, when you first enter the loop, pull over on the left where the horses are running. You won't see anything like that anywhere else in the park so don't pass up that photo thinking you'll see more. Next time, I'll know better.

I agree, I love all the photos LauraC, but the ones with the fog are AWESOME! I love Cades Cove, but haven't been in years. Do they allow Dogs in the camp ground there? I can't remember. Maybe hubby and I will go camping there next weekend.

I don't know about dogs. I saw a campground road but didn't take it. Do you know if you see flowers there in the Spring?
