PDQ, we will miss this place (somewhat) and yes we've been lucky to live here and it's fantastic for people who can do outside activities. If you hunt (we don't) ski, snowboard, backpack, horse pack, camp, ride mountain bikes or float/raft, and fish you will be busy all year round. All we do is float/raft and a little fishing so we are only out 2 1/2 months a year. We usually spend 6 hours on any given day floating from either Glacier Park to the bridge shown above or from that bridge down river about 11-14 miles. We see bald eagles hunting the river, cranes, hawks, bear, moose, elk and deer.
Unfortunately 2 months of activity is not enough for me.....

Those are some amazingly beautiful pictures, jimj. You live in such a beautiful part of the world.
But I also understand why you want to move here to TN. It's not quite as spectacular as the Rockies, but it's not a bad alternative, either. I have friends who left Knoxville 2 years ago to move to Montana; they absolutely adore it there in the summers, but they're ready to come back here in the winters.
I hope you'll keep us updated on your move to TN. In the meantime, I can look at those pictures you posted forever and never get tired of them...

Eesh!
Nope, even the second set of pics doesn't make me understand why you'd leave... However, we do have elk, too.

great pics
It's nice to see someone that knows how to use a camera! They are beautiful....clear, colorful, and gorgeous! What brand camera? I'm guessing a Nikon or Canon. And, not a point and shoot!

We are planning on going around the Maryville area. We really like the smokies and want to remain rural and close to some mountains since that is what we're used to....
If y'all want I can post some more pics, it's up to y'all since this is the TN forum and I don't want to intrude MT stuff on here if it's not wanted.
I do have to say that you wouldn't believe what we see on a daily basis and you do become very jaded after awhile and just take it for granted.

jim,
those are beautiful photos. I can understand why you want to move. We are moving to TN for the same reason...my health. No more extreme cold for this old gal.

Hate to be the wet blanket here, but we really shouldn't be posting pictures from other states, we need to keep it a TN forum, sorry.
