Default Yeah, Willow Creek is great if...

If you like the thought of a church funding a housing development using parishioner funds to develop the property without the knowledge of the parishioners themselves. I will not name anyone in particular, that is some thing you could very easily find out on your own. Hint: the church involved holds functions in the community center there. There was literally millions of dollars involved here and a few of the church hierarchy got wind of what was going on and left the church... in a big hurry! I know many of these people personally and was once a member of the church in question at one point in my life. It's definitely worth some investigation. I think you will find that I am correct in what I say here.

Default You are Wrong!

I dont know who you are, or think you are, but you are wrong about Willow Creek. I live there and love it. It has nothing to do with churches??? Sure some residents attend church, but not in the subdivision and not all the same church. They have pool parties, play tennis, volleyball, jog, workout, pilates classes, play cards at the community center. This subdivision is just normal people having fun......

I know that Willow Creek was initially funded and developed by The Worthington Group, an LLC. Jeff Daragh I believe is the main developer and public records are available. I know that private funds, as well as state and federal funding for utilities were all utilized. However, I have not heard of any church funding. While altogether in itself not illegal, it may be a smart financial move if the church did fund some of the development, as more phases and commercial properties should mount up on the 450+ acreage. But, FWIW, Worthington has built communities all over the US, and even in Europe, and I'm not sure about their need of small public donors.

To the original OP, if you're set on Sweetwater, I believe it's a good little community. The housing there has a more interesting quality to the build than many other comparable developments. Many of the new homes have a craftsmen feel that is hard to find in new homes of that size. If you're looking for a community feel with amenities, it's got a pretty good match for you. If you're searching for nice neighbors, with plenty of gatherings and welcoming attitudes, it looks to be what they're advertising. I think there are some great views there, and it's really close to a lot of outdoor activities. I also think Sweetwater is a great location with Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Atlanta all within 2 1/2 hours away. Best of luck!
