Just gotta mention that Niota is also the most notorious speed trap in East Tennessee. Watch out as you drive through it on Hwy 11.

And it is rather a long commute in to Knoxville from there, about 5o miles to the downtown area.

Actually, that isn't quite correct. There is no tax on earned income, but there are taxes on other kinds of income, such as some kinds of investment income. Mutual fund income is generally taxable, as an example, although there may some fund income that is not taxed.

I have to file a state income tax return and pay every year.

The only thing that makes me madder, is all the promoters who go around telling all their prospects that Tennessee doesn't have any income tax. It's just not true.
