Default Knoxville Beauty Services

Question for the ladies...or anybody who can answer me, really

I'm looking for good salons/beauty supply shops in the Knoxville area. I'll go out of my way to go to a place that has great service, fair prices and comes highly suggested.

So where do you go for your manicures, pedicures, professional hair styling, and overall primping and pampering?

Also, where are the cosmetics stores/department stores with a large cosmetics area? I'm going to miss my Macy's. *sniffle*

Went to deSpa Salon in Powell a couple of weeks back and was thrilled with the cut. It only opened a few weeks ago. Very reasonable and one of the best cuts I've ever had. I think Mr. Michael is a miracle worker.

Great makeup counters at Dillard's and Belk's and we have two of them because we have two malls.

Here's the best thing. They have these fantastic clearance sales at these stores, I guess because the merchandise does not move that quickly. Oh, the deals I have received!

I've been going Marci at Orange Curl for years. It's next door to CompUSA in a big shopping center on Kingston Pike, just west of Cedar Bluff.
It's a "traditional" salon. No rock music or extreme 'dos. Seems to attract the 30-somethings and older, male and female.
There are a couple of Aveda Salons that I know others have been happy with, especially Azure Spa in Bearden.

Default Another Macy's Fan

I too will miss Macy's and am wondering if anyone is willing to recommend locations in/near Maryville for manicures, pedicures, professional hair styling, and overall primping and pampering.

Wink UT Vols are smashing up the field this season! We can live without Macy's, right?

Suzanne1945 and darkholme, I too am a lover of Macy's. GO VOLS!

Dilliard's is a good alternative for those coming off the Macy's fix, however. We have to adapt, ladies. There are no Meijer's and no Macy's! And, we don't need them, right. GO VOLS!

But, if anyone is going to be near a Macy's, please give me a call. I will have a list. GO VOLS!

(How did I do, hiknapster? GO VOLS! Hubby and I have quickly become UT fans. We were going beserk watching the UT/SC game last weekend. What a great game! GO VOLS!)

First of all, my Dad's family is all from Manhattan, so I understand. We use to go to New York in the spring to shop when I was little. Go Macy's!

But we will all survive. I absolutely love Dillard's. And you haven't lived until you have been to a cosmetic counter in Tennessee. Just like "Steel Magnolia's." Set aside extra time for the conversation!

As far as the game goes, you mentioned that you were watching it last week, and I thought, "She's watching the Sox?" They won the World Series! Twice in this millennium!

Oh crap! I've been caught!

Go Vols!

Did I mention that I love the Lady Vols?

You're a Meijer shopper too? Whee!! Where did you relocate from? I'm going to miss Meijer and Macy's so hopefully Target and Dillard's will fill the aching hole in my heart

...looks like I better get used to saying GO VOLS lol!

I was never much of a fan of Meijer's (old Grosse Ile resident!), and loved Hudson's and now Macy's, but Dillard's is just as good, if not better!

And, Target - especially the Super Targets surpasses Meijers. GO VOLS (And, UT is full of spirit and has great football! You're going to love them. Oh yeah, lady VOLS!!)

My wife got a tip on a place in Fountain City from some co-workers and went and checked it out today and was VERY pleased. This is a woman that used to drive 1.5 hours just so she could keep the same person cutting her hair. The name of the place is Fringes.

Thanks for the tip on deSpa, Hik. We're moving to Powell soon and I was frantic about finding a good stylist. We've been in OR almost two years and I JUST found a decent one here.

And thanks all for the tip on Dillards. I've used Mary Kay for years and recently have thought about switching b/c I can't find a dependable MK person who isn't harrassing me to have a "show". I never thought about a department store make-over. Look out world, here comes the soon-to-be new me!!!
