Wink It's really easy; you just have to know where to look!

Haha! Fallfanatic, you are asking a very common question! We all seem to do out acknowledging of a good, helpful or nice post with the bottom left corner when we first get started.

If you want to rep someone and leave a comment with your name (which is nice because we like to know who appreciated our post), go to the upper right hand corner of the post you are reading and you will see a #, which if the number of that post in the thread; a red triangle, which is used to alert a moderator to an offensive post; and in between the two there is a scale of justice.

If you click on the scale a box will pop up where you can leave a short message about what you liked or appreciated and your name. Click "Add to Reputation" and that person will receive you note under "My Settings". It sounds complicated, but it really isn't. You will get used to the system in no time.

Thanks, btw, for filling us in on your plans and time frame. You sound like you have a great plan in place and it is going to be a real bonus for you and the children to spend a little time searching the area good before moving.
Many people who are relocating and who do not know E. TN (or anyplace for that matter) like to rent for 6 months to a year to really get familiar with neighborhoods, schools, amenities, parks and so on. This helps them to make a move into just the right place for them without the worry of buying in a neighborhood only to find that they don't like it there and selling and moving again in a couple of years.

You know how well you know the area, but it is something to consider.

Best of everything in your search. Check on line and on the threads about schools, also. With 3 children you do want to find a good school district in your city.

Keep us all informed. We are a nosey bunch and like to know that everyone has landed safely and happily.

thanks gem....I will have to try that next time I rate a post positive. After I posted that I went back to see if in fact when I rated it changed the persons rep and it did!!! Of course I didn't know about the comments thing but I was all giddy and went back to the begining of this thread and started reping (is that a word??) all you who are always so great. A little box poped up and 'yelled' at me to spread them around and apparently you can't re-rep a specific post even if it was great. So I'm learning. I did have to go back to the Tri-Cities fourm and do the same for several of them who are also deserving that aren't over here. Eventually, it told me I can not give anymore...something about too many in a 24 hour period, and to try again later. Does that mean I can start again tommorow?? How many can I give at one time? I wasn't keeping count. I wish I would have realized this sooner, I could have been adding to y'all for a whole month!!! Some of you guys have so many you probably don't notice 1 extra... but hey, they add up!
One more quick question... is it posiable to put a new thread in different forums, or do you just have to rewrite it? I originally signed up just so I could thank all of you for being so great. However, I didn't realize that everyone didn't go from one sub forum to another. So if y'all have a few extra minutes check the Tri-Cities forum for a thread I started titled " just want to say thanks". That was for all you wonderful NETN posters.

Hik - thought of you and hubby. There was a story on the news this evening about rising gas prices and one of the things that was mentioned was that people are putting off car repairs and that auto shops are suffering.

Thank you for thinking of us, SMG.

Yes. Things are not too great, right now. We'll survive, though.

In ways that I can't completely understand, being on this forum gave me the ability to keep on going. I think part of it is the knowledge that you all impart. I finally learned that when you come up against a roadblock there are so many options that you can take. I've always understood the crisis brings opportunity theory, but I probably didn't believe it or get it, or something.

Reading post after post of people that make it in life, and how they do it, has been so helpful.

Y'all have probably figured out that I don't have family and friends around me, and that has been for all of my life. I probably sound crazy, but the contact in this forum has been invaluable.

So, anyway, things are slightly slim, right now, like they are for so many people, but we have cut back, desperately trying not to cut into the house deposit money.

"Cut back." How nice that sounds. I can remember when there was nothing to cut back.

I mentioned, in passing, that my husband was going to look for a job tomorrow. Clearly, you picked up on that SMG. Thank you for noticing.

It's just that Freddie has been working out of this Buy Here Pay Here place in Clinton, and because he also spent most of his time working out of Bobby's on Broadway, he didn't really promote his business. He had so much work that he just didn't bother. He just got his own cellphone, because Bobby provided one for him up until the work ran out.

So now probably is a bad time to try to begin promoting himself. I guess we could start renting our own shop, but I really had my heart set on buying a house. Oh, what to do, what to do.

What I don't completely understand is why people would stop fixing their cars; I mean the ones that don't know how to do it. You would think that would be at the top of their priority list.

Well, I am done rambling.

Thanks, SMG!

Oh, hiknapster, I am sorry about Fred's job. I have not been keeping up with things. You know that I will be keeping the 3 of you in my prayers and always in my thoughts.

You are so right about the friends that shine here on C-D. I think we have all learned a lot about people and what tough times others have to go through. May yours and Fred's time to find another job for him be speedy and successful.

Very wise of you to try to keep the house deposit money safe. I think that is one reason that when times get tough, some people will put off getting their cars fixed.

We have to eat; we have to keep our homes. What we can ease up on is going to the dentist, entertainment and taking care of that noisy muffler. Too bad, but therein lies the trickle-down theory again.

If I was there, I think my car could use a tune-up. We love you, Hik. Hang in there and we'll be here for you - always.

Smile Hi Everyone...

J&Em...Congratulations on permently moving to TN!!!!
Hik...That "We" gem was refering to includes me too!!!
gem..You are such a sweetie!!!
SMG..Always looking out for everyone else, you too are a sweetie!!!

Sometime yesterday I became a senior, according to the little words below my name. I guess that happened when I hit 100 posts. I have only been a member for a month (not even a month). Does that mean I am on here too much?? OK, stop laughing at me... It's rather addicting, isn't it? Where I use to just have to have my coffee in the morning, now I have to have my coffee and city-data.
It's all y'alls fault; if the whole bunch of you weren't so darn nice and friendly....
I enjoy researching things and it enables me to help others, so if it is an addiction; at least it is the good kind, right?
