We seem to be constantly asked about schools in the area, some of us seem to be endlessly answering this question. Not only that, but it makes it difficult for people to find area school questions, so I thought I'd start a thread. No, this is not for the CD contest, I didn't enter.

When I get a chance, I'll throw up the link to the US News and World Report.

For now, I thought I'd give a couple of links to the top scholars as named by the local daily. Parenting and the individual students' intelligence and motivation play a major part in these students being the cream of the crop. But good parents generally seek out good schools so there is something to be said for these lists.

Well, I think that it will always fluctuate because it really comes down to the individuals. But it is a good litmus test because it lines up with what has been proven to be the "best" schools in the area. Having said that, I've always believed that Knox County has great schools but some of them have low socio-economic demographics and that plays into the rankings. It's one of the reasons that West seems to spit out top students yet isn't at the top of everyone's list. There are incredibly rich kids that go there, the ones that don't go to Webb due to altruistic reasons. But there are so awfully poor kids there, too.
