'So many people who sold their Douglas Lake property'? There's over 500 miles of shoreline, so i'm sure a lot of buying and selling goes on daily.
There are many areas of Douglas Lake that when the water is high certainly offer good boating. And, some of those same areas, when the water is low, have been totally dry and trucks/four-wheelers would drive around the lake bed. Absolutely NO boat would float during those times and those areas would certainly be in view of "lakefront" homes. I think that driving on the dry lake bed has been prohibited/banned, but it sure happpened in the past.

I have walked the dry lake bed in the winter. But if you're considering purchasing property on Douglas Lake, ask those who live lakefront - which I don't. And I mean go knock on doors if you have to. It's too big an investment to second-guess lake conditions. Best to get the info from "the horse's mouth"

That's what I said- main channel doesn't get too low to boat, period. Coves, yes.
That's where 'main channel' differs from 'lake front.'

Douglas lake is being dstroyed by people not abidding to the fish limits in size and numbers. The ideal of catching a 6 inch stripe/white bass and throwing it in a bucket and saying bigger than a bean, is what is destroying the fishing. Oct 2009 In Fisherman had a story that one in every 10 fish are eaten. Thank how many fish you see dumped at the boat ramps and parking areas you see. Come on Game Wardens lets keep fisherman honest. Save the lake for my Grandkids to have fun to.
