It won't be long before famous moonshiner Popcorn Sutton's special recipe will be brewed again in Cocke County. But this time, it will be legal, and with the full support of the county and the state.

Popcorn Sutton Distilling LLC will soon open a new 46,000 square foot craft distillery on Highway 25 E. They plan to create 36 new jobs over the next five years.

I suppose it'll be the flavored 40 proof stuff that area tourists will stand in line for. Whatever, best of all it's good for Cocke County.

I bet they won't be able to keep the so-called business going for a very long time.

I don't see very many local and out-of-state tourists stepping foot in the Newport/Cocke County area knowing how bad it is there.

Mr. Sutton was what one would call a kook. He was a long-time repeated offender who has broken laws to run illegal activities over the years.
