Southernnaturelover, where are you referring? Are you saying Sevier county has bad water or all over East TN?

I live in Jefferson County near Dandridge and I have Shady Grove Utility (Water), however we have septic system out here in the country. I do not know how much is well water vs city water, but I do know Shady Grove has several projects going on expanding their reach. There are other water companies or utilities in Jefferson County also, like Jefferson City has their own and the City of Dandridge and others.

Thanks Richard. You live in the general area where I plan to go. What I would really like is to be able to have a private well in that area so I don't have city water. My concern is that the water needs to be good without any processing or stuff added. I understand the extra cost involved in drilling the well but it's worth it to me if I can get good water.

I may be wasting your time but the following link may help (or may not)

Thank you. Though much of it is above my learning, I did find it very useful. Do you have a private well? If so, how is the water. Taste, smell, etc.

Thats why I stated it may or may not help you. I read and understood enough it was talking about ground water and wells, so I thought it may be on the right track. I do not have a private well, nor does anyone around me here. We all have city water. I assume there will be more docs on water quality around the internet somewhere, since it is inspected every so ofter, so if I run into more I will post

Thanks Richard. It looks like water quality for the most part is pretty good in that area. Since I'm not sure where we will end up I guess the best thing is to find a place that looks promising and then along with a good house inspection, test the water too. I'm just trying to narrow my search before we sell my place here and move. This is a one time thing for us and want to be sure I don't get any bad surprises.

Are you aware of the very large fluctuation in water levels on Douglas and Cherokee Lakes? Many a person bought there, only to lament that their dock was high and dry for nine months of the year.
