Comcast question
I don't know if anybody would know this but I heard comcast pays really good money there. My sister who just moved there was getting her cable installed and said the cable guy was telling her how much he made so I was just curious if it was true or not!

I work for Comcast.
I love Comcast. I'd rather work for them than anyone else. It is a very nice place to work. Wonderful people.
However, I wouldn't say that Comcast pays really good money.
Define "really good money."

LOL Well, the guy told my sister that he cleared $1500/wk and he was an installer and I thought that was good considering my husband makes about gross $2,000/week and brings home only about $1100 at his current job here in MD. Maybe the guy was exagerating a bit I dunno. I am glad to here that it's a good place to work though and how long does the training take? thanks

Working for Comcast? Directly?
If he is a technician working directly for Comcast I can tell you that they start at about $12 an hour. Maybe $13. Maybe. I can find out, but he is definitely not clearing $1,500 a week.
I think your sister wants you to move near her.

$1500/week is $78,000 net per year and about $103,700 with benifits. I'll take that job here by Chicago, sign me up. lol

Yep. Somebody is telling tall stories.
And if your husband is clearing $1,100 now, he needs to stay where he is.
Only? Wow. You need to understand what they pay here.
At one point, my husband was clearing $690 a week, and people around here were staggered by that amount. At one point, he cleared $425 a week.
And this is an auto mechanic with 20 years of experience and a stellar resume.
He now runs his own business.

Well, we don't wanna stay here in MD, we hate it here. I know $1100 sounds like a lot but really it's not with the cost of living so high, we pay almost $2,000/month for our rent, then you add in $300 plus/month for electric, $200 water and all the other bills we barely come out even plus the congestion and rude people, no thanks, we'll take less pay to live in a friendly state with beautiful scenery any day! Oh, another question, if the pay is so low there why is rental a house/apt. so expensive?

Our rent isn't expensive...$725 for a priavelty owned condo (not an apt complex), and it's located in West Knox (higher prices). I don't think Knoxville has expensive rent.

Ok, $725 for an apt. is very reasonable but I have been looking for a house to rent and most of them are between $1200-$1600 atleast the decent ones anyway, I guess maybe that's just in knoxville, is it cheaper outside of knoxville?

Have you looked at ViewHomes.com ? Whenever I have clients that are new to town and want to rent first I usually find some nice homes for them on there. I also have great luck with craigslist.org and Knoxnews.com to find rental houses...
It's tough moving, we're building a house and dread having to move again...ugh!
