You might want to consider either your county health dept (yes, they have dentists!) or the UT College of Dentistry at UT Medical Center (affiliated through the Graduate School of Medicine).
Good luck.

Awesome! I need a good dentist.
It's seems like the picks so far are Dr. Chesney in Farragut and Dr Zajac in Turkey Creek. Obviously, I want a "nice" dentist, but I'm really looking for quality. I've had three root canals on the same tooth because the first dentist who worked on it was terrible ...and now I think it needs a forth

I've asked around to some people I know here in town and Dr. Zajac seems to be coming up a lot. I'm thinking I'm at least going to call and make an appointment and try it out. I'll post again and let you know how that goes after my appointment (probably be after the new year before I can get in anywhere at this point I guess).

Cool, because I think I'm going to try Dr. Chesney if he/she takes Metlife. Between the two of us, we should be able to provide a decent recommendation.

I thought the dental school was in Memphis. If it's right here the jokes on me because I recently drove all the way to west virginia for half price root canals. Nice vacation, though.
Still too expensive for someone just ekeing by. I'm afraid the dental situation for the uninsured here is pretty grim. One of the shelters (union rescue?) has a volunteer dentist one day a week.

I just remembered - It's Volunteer Ministries that has the dentist. They might be able to advise you where to go for dentures.
Meanwhile, sea salt and clove oil might help with the pain. I would dab a little sea salt on a wet q-tip and hold it up to the tooth.

Also try Interfaith Health Clinic. The number is 546-7330.
It is for working folks that don't have health insurance. They sent me to St. Mary's, which correctly diagnosed me. They go by your income and then it depends on how much you can pay.
They do dental.
As far as dentists go, for people with insurance, I am still desperately seeking a dentist, but closer to me. Turkey Creek is a long way to travel when you are in Inskip.

A friend of mine does dental through interfaith and says the waiting lists are pretty long. Now that I think about it, she did say something about the health dept - just that her income was too high to get service there.
Hik, check out Dr Nancy Hudson on Mineral springs near Broadway & I-640. She is a good dentist and very nice. I understand your reluctance to go all the way to Turkey creek, especially this time of year.

Thanks for the tip!
I went to interfaith when my husband was the only one working. His pay was pretty good, but there are three of us. I had to pay 50 percent of the bill. The whole thing came to about $800, but it was better than paying the full bill or not being treated at all.
I could see them having a long wait for a dentist. All those medical people donate their time. Sometimes nurses and doctors just show up.
I asked the doctor why Knoxville has a place like that when I never encountered anything like it anywhere else.
Her reply?
"Because this is Knoxville."
I liked that.

Just to update, I finally made an appointment with Dr. Cribbs. She is an excellent dentist. I can highly recommend her. She was informative, explained everything thoroughly to me, answered all my questions, didn't try to sell me on high-end dental care. I liked her pleasant, matter of fact demeanor, and can recommend her to anyone looking for a good dentist.
