I'm not sure I understand the question. You mean metropolitan areas north and northeast of Knoxville? What do you consider to be a "major city"? I guess you don't have access to a map where you can see what the major cities are?

Lexington Kentucky is the next metro area north of Knoxville, and the Tri Cities (Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol) is the next major area northeast of Knoxville.

Going north, Knoxville is so spread out, with small areas, first is the Fountain city area, then Halls Crossroads, then Maynardville, then Tazewell and New Tazewell. If this help, let me know, and I can name others.

Map--What is a map???

Oh, so that's where Tri Cities are... I didn't know they were north of Knoxville.

Whoa, hold on. The Tri Cities are northEAST of Knoxville (take I-40 east and hang a left at I-81).

The areas north of Knoxville are up Broadway (33).

Hope this helps.

Yep. JMT was talking about major cities (which seems to be what you asked), oldmanbob was talking about towns in the greater Knoxville area (much greater, if you consider Maynardville ).

Just to clarify.

Thanks! And, for the record, I did say that the Tri Cities are northeast of Knoxville, not north. I guess sissy910 misread my post.

I'm actually from the Tri-Cities and I consider them east of Knoxville. I know they're 'technically' northeast...go figure. If you've got questions about Johnson City, Bristol, Kingsport, Jonesborough, Erwin, Elizabethton, etc. Let me know and I can help! I spent 20+ years there and know it like the back of my hand!
