Lenoir City Plaza is a retail center located at the northwest corner of Highway 321 North and McGhee Boulevard. It is presently anchored by Ingle's Markets #71.

Former tenants in Lenoir City Plaza include Big Lots and Revco. Big Lots filled the vacancy in the first Ingle's store 71. It was replaced by store 1386, Twin Lakes Square Shopping Center, 455 Highway 321 North, Suite N, Lenoir City, Tennessee 37771-2041, filling a vacancy created by Food City. Revco was located between the first and existing Ingle's store 71's.

Ingle's Markets #71, 404 Highway 321 North, Suite 1, Lenoir City Tennessee 37771-2065:

The existing, and second, store 71 opened circa the late 1980's.

I have heard Ingle's Markets is proceeding with a new store 71 onsite replacing the existing store.

Ya, Ingles is planning to build a new store/fuel station on its original site (where Big Lots last occupied). There is a massive apartment complex for low-incomes by the current Ingles store.

I had no idea Food City had a new store there.

I do not know when Food City #650, The Market at Town Creek, 300 Market Drive, Lenoir City, Tennessee 37771-6456, opened. It had to be before 2014.

I am curious to see how the new Ingle's store 71 will be constructed. My initial thought is everything from the existing store to McGhee Boulevard will be demolished. Will the new store be constructed in that specific area, or will it require taking over the existing store? As for the fuel center, will it be an Ingle's Gas Express or an I-Market convenience store?

The new Ingle's is going in the demolished area adjacent to the current store. I don't know what will go into the current store space or if it will be demolished after the new one is finished.

Was the old store 71 demolished recently?

By "old" #71, I'm not sure which one you mean. The existing store on the west side of 321, behind McDonald's, is still open, but all the other stores in that strip are demolished and the new Ingle's is being built NEXT DOOR TO the existing Ingles, which I guess will be demolished when the new one is done. So it will still be behind McDonald's, just next door to where it is now.

The old store 71 was most recently Big Lots #1386. It was the predecessor to the existing store 71.

Okay. No, the old store strip is not demolished. Just the vacant stuff next to the existing store.

I thought I have posted the News-Herald's August article in my last post.
Quote:
“We have begun asbestos abatement and have a site plan on file with Lenoir City for redevelopment that will include a new Ingles with a Gas Express,” Ron Freeman, chief financial officer for Ingles Markets, said in an email correspondence. “We are not sure about the timing of future steps due to various issues, including possible plan changes, regulatory compliance and the weather.
