Thunder Valley
Hope there's room for two more--we love NASCAR and NHRA. See you in the stands some day. We've been to the Daytona track and CA Speedway. Hope to add Bristol (I had dinner in the owner's suite once) and Charlotte to our track experiences.

Always room for a couple of more, Suzanne1945. We are also planning on Florida this spring to go to the Barrett Jackson auction - primarily to see some of the customized racing stock cars. DH is really more interested in the sports car races than NASCAR, but won't pass up any race.
We have been to a couple of antique racer competitions also. There is a great one at Lime Rock, CT. That is a lot of fun with old Triumphs, MG's, ??, etc. Those guys take winning as seriously as the NASCAR drivers.
Anyone else into car collecting (dreaming)? We hit all of the shows we can squeeze in from Florida to Maine. We haven't gone any further west than Michigan for a show or race, so that should be next on our list.

My son just informed me that he wants a late 50's to mid 60's dodge painted like the ones used to run the daytona 500. I feel my hip hurting right about where the wallet sits...

Oh! We love Barrett Jackson! That auction on the Speed channel is addicting. I'm so jealous!
I love classic cars. When we get around to it, we plan to get a project car for Fred to fix up. Probably a Mustang. He's not happy unless he's fixing a car or fishing.
Oh, and watching Nascar. In fact, he's watching it now.
I love races of any kind, but more so if I am there in person. Watching Nascar on tv, week after week, gets old.
We watched a dirt track race in Cleveland, Tennessee and that was great. Love racing at the local level. I grew up going to a local track...Thompson Speedway. Have you been to Stafford Springs, CT, gemthornton? I think my son raced at Lime Rock.

The Speed channel is never turned off in our house!!
Hik, Lime Rock Race Track is owned by Skip Barber in Lakeville, CT. He has a racing school there that DH would love to go to for a week. We haven't been to Stafford Springs that I recall. We made a couple of trips each year to Mystic, Ct. for the car shows and Lime Rock for shows and races.
For a small state Connecticut has several racetracks between Lime Rock, Thompson Speedway, Stafford Springs Race Track and not far from Riverhead, NY and Loudon, NH. Can't wait for the races in TN!!
I grew up going to local Saturday races in PA. They were run by locals in their modified cars. I loved the demolition derbies the best!! What fun!
Skip Barber recently opened a school near us at Road Atlanta Raceway. You can give them a gazillion dollars for about 3 days worth of racing lessons and a racing suit. Then, they turn you loose on the track in YOUR own car with other amateurs (dummies, I prefer to call them) and any pros who are there at the time for the thrill of your life!
DH and I have run 3 laps on the Road Atlanta Track with our Corvette Club, but we had to follow a pace car. They wouldn't let us go over a 100 mph because of liability insurance. It was really exciting!!
Hubby is still waiting for the green flag from his better half for the racing school, however.
We go to a lot of car shows (sometimes as an entrant) with our club to raise money for Breast Cancer Society in memory of Sandy Labaree. We, also, try to get to Bowling Green, KY each year for the C-5 Bash at the Corvette Museum and the club and sponsors have always raised a couple to several thousand dollars there for Breast Cancer! Lots of generous car enthusiasts around!
He and Fred have a lot in common then. DH would like to get a '66 GTO (his first car), restore it, soup it up, and take it to car shows and races. They could encourage each other. Uh-oh.
We really have a great time at the shows and races - and meet wonderful people in the process. It keeps us up and cruising!

I have family in Stafford Springs. One good thing about living near the Stafford Speedway was that you could see the fireworks that were set off there on the fourth of July.

I love Stafford Springs!
Fred's a Ford guy, but I love Chevy's. I've sold both, but there is nothing sweeter than a Corvette.

Psst....Please lets keep this thread on topic of pictures that make you love East TN.
I too love the Jackson Barret and other car shows. Maybe someone can create a new thread about local shows?
