Next week is my birthday (yay me!) and I have a babysitter lined up (double yay me!). I want to go to a nice dinner with hubby and no kids, any suggestions? We live off on Kingston Pike on the west side so I'd like to either stay in this area or go downtown.
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg (i.e. Flemings) and we like almost all food. Well, except Ethiopian. I saw Bravo's and it looks nice from the outside but I wonder if it's just mediocre food. I have no idea. So any suggestions? |

Green Hills Grille on Kingston Pike in the Sequoyah Hills area is also very good. It's in the same shopping center as Fresh Market. My personal favorite is Northshore Brasserie. It's down Northshore near where it intersects with I-140. It's not the cheapest place in town, but it's amazingly good food (French and Belgian) with the best desserts in town. Maybe you could just go there for a nice, romantic dessert? And happy birthday! ![]() |

I had an excellent dinner the other night at Bonefish Grill on Bearden Hill. Good prices with huge portions and candlelight atmosphere.
Italian Market and Grill is another favorite that's not too pricey. I also like Bogartz in Homburg Place. You can check menus and prices here: Knoxville Restaurants | Area Restaurant Guide |

Italian Market closed? Why do all the good restaurants close? Never mind. I can answer that.

I just saw that in Metro Pulse today. That's a shame. It used to be good but I haven't been there for some time. Apparently it was bought by another group and went downhill.

Whaddaya mean, it closed?!!!! This atrocity must have occurred just recently as it was opened two weeks ago! We ate there just before Christmas and thought it was wonderful. If you like Italian, I'd choose Altruda's over Bravo's. The one in Lenoir City is fabulous and I assume the one in Cedar Bluff is too.

Bravo's is okay, for the price I'd rather go to Olive Garden, if that tells you anything.

Duh. Just realized. We are all so anxious to recommend restaurants, the fact that SG's b'day is coming up went completely over our heads!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (next week), SG. Enjoy your "date", no matter where you spend it! |

Thanks for the tip on Bravo's. I don't think the Olive Garden is that great, so it sounds like I'd be disappointed.
I have been to Calhoun's and think the BBQ is very yummy. Sounds like there are some great choices for my b-day! Thank you for all the yummy recommendations. ![]() |
