Hi guys,

Our family moved to the area six months ago from Tampa. We recently found this site and have enjoyed browsing through the posts, particularly the local photos. We have looked to this site for reference a number of times, and have always found knowledgable answers to the many questions we had.

One thing we haven't been able to find information on are local community newspapers, if they exist and what they're named. We had a business in Tampa, and much of our advertising went into these types of publications. Having started a new business upon our arrival here, we would like to do the same. Areas of particular interest would be Tellico Village, and the Farragut/Concord area.

All information, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it will have all of the local papers listed, but try newslink.org Also UT's school of Journalism should have the addresses of local newspapers, as should Lawson-Mcgee Library.

Welcome, Wilkes! You're gonna love it here (both virtually and in TN...even though I'm only in TN in spirit for a while!)

Where'd you wind up moving to?

I'd guess that in terms of major newspapers (i.e. dailies vs. locals which only publish a few times a week) you'd be looking at Knox News. We bought in Roane County on the border of Loudon, so we subscribe to the Roane County News (roanecounty.com) as well as the Loudon paper (link in knoxgarden's post). They both publish, I think, 3 times a week.

Advertising runs the gamut from local mom & pops, to the big cellular providers and gyms in Knoxville so it might be worth looking into.

Good luck and again, welcome!

Thanks again for the responses. It has definitely helped.

And BBKaren, we bought a house in a rural section of Loudon, fairly close to I-75. We've got views of both mountain ranges and seem to like it more and more as the days pass. Certainly enjoying it more than Tampa, especially the weather.

Sounds great, wilkes--are you on the Kingston side? Maybe we'd be neighbors one day! Our property is in the Lake Awana subdivision on Watts Bar Lake (in Kingston but with a Loudon address, our property is at Powell and Valley Drives.)

Smile Welcome to the forum, wilkes.

Welcome, wilkes. You aren't by any chance an old Wilkes-Barre native, are you? The spellings are the same and was just making the connection as I am originally from that area.

I hope your business proves very successful and that you really enjoy TN. You are in a beautiful area.

No, we're on the East side of 75. Just a couple of miles from downtown Loudon.
