If I had to name one thing I miss about back home...it's BBQ. Thank goodness I have taught myself how to do it through years of practice! Next Saturday, I believe we'll be having a few slabs of ribs.
If you want some good sauce, get on the net and import yourself some Gates from KC. Just my personal opinion.

I miss Eastern NC BBQ.......can hardly wait till we are there for Mother's day - my first stop will be for some good ole 'vinegar based' BBQ!!!!!

I'm a fan of that as well. Pulled pork is my "specialty"...and I change it up from Eastern Carolina to just plain (other than the rub) with some Gates all over it...

I wouldn't call it sweet at all. More on the "spicy" side, but they have many different varieties. My favorite on pulled pork is Gates Extra Spicy. Original is also pretty good.
For the record, KC Masterpiece...sucks...especially the restaurant. It angers me that a lot of the country believes that place and sauce is what KC BBQ is all about. KC BBQ is Gates, Oklahoma Joes (in a gas station), Arthur Bryant's, and MAYBE Fiorella's Jack Stack...
My favorite is just to make it myself, then use any of the sauces...but, when I go home, there's nothing quite like hearing HI, MAY I HELP YOU from a young lady yelling at you! You'd probably have to go to Gates to understand.

JMT, if you don't like Cheerwine, you should try Moxie, a New England creation. That stuff is AWFUL!

They are actually soda! I've never had Cheerwine, but I've had Moxie. I had one sip once. Let's just say it must be an acquired taste!

You all've inspired me. I went down to the store last night and got a few Cheerwines. And they're safe, as nobody that lives with me likes them!!!

This is our first spring here in Knoxville, we moved here last October. We LOVE the weather. Keep in mind we moved from San Antonio, TX and the constant 60%+ humidity and 90-100+ degree weather from February to November. I have a heart issue and was housebound for the summer. My DH grew up in Milwaukee and I in NW Arkansas (Fayetteville area) so the living in Texas was strictly a military commitment that ended last September. Now, the warm to cold variance in temp is hard on the sinus but we still love it. I can finally use my sunroof with being suffocated.
We LOVE it here...and look forward to experiencing our first spring and summer.
