Gem, that definitely sounds like a 'hurricane' closet to me! And like LCG said, your pantry seems to be better stocked than most pantries in 'hurricane' territory!! As we have been preparing for our move, I have been trying to use up the canned goods from our hurricane supply......Hubby wasn't too thrilled when he sat down at the table to 'canned' stew beef the other night.....LOL But actually, it didn't taste half-bad!! Now that we've finished up the food and water supply, the paper goods are left - but we'll use those during our last week before moving because everything else will be packed up.

I'm sure that just because I've always had an emergency pantry, that I will probably set one up once we buy our new home.....just in case of ice storms, etc. When I was growing up, I can remember that Mom had an emergency supply closet in case we were attacked by Cuba!

My neighbor informed me last night it was "cold".

Short sleeves again today. Granted, I don't spend a lot of time outside...if I did, this is definitely long sleeve shirt or maybe even a jacket weather.

Did everyone survive the "East TN Blizzard of 2008"?

I love the weather here.

HappyWife is on a distinguished road
Hi Everyone! I've been enjoying your conversation about the weather. Let me tell you it's all relative, because here in MI, we had 6" of snow three days ago and another fresh "dusting" of 2" of snow today. If the temp gets into the thirties, we're thrilled! Your weather doesn't sound so bad to me! (We'd be some of those weird northerners who run around in shorts & T-shirts whenever the temp is above 45 and we see a glimpse of sun!) Anyways, we're so excited to be visiting your neck of the woods in Knoxville April 9-14. My beloved husband wants to know where the best bbq place is. Thanks for your help! I think I saw the Dogwood festival is going on then too! Can't wait to come on down!

It is a matter of perspective!

I'll talk to my mom in Mass., and she'll tell me how they are having such glorious weather and that it is so mild that day, and I'll look on the NWS and it is 35 degrees!

Hik, I bet she won't say that today!

It was 7 degrees this a.m. here in NJ...do you folks ever see that kind of cold in Tennessee? I know I won't miss it none.

A couple of days ago, the high was 30 degrees, maybe. The past two winters were not as cold as this. It's pretty unusual, but doable. The best part is, when the flowers are blooming here, it is still really cold up North.

Sure, rub it in! We're in for 4-6" tonight. I don't mind the snow, but the dreary, gray, windy cold days I hate!

Isn't that the truth. My flowers are under about 5 feet of snow. We had a foot of snow Tuesday night and another 9-12 inches due tonight. I cannot wait to get out of here and move to the warm south!
