Relocating from the wild wild west! Can you please tell me the best zip codes in West Knoxville area to live in? Are there any homes that are newer, 20 years or less?

You'll find PLENTY of houses that are less than 20 years old. Heck, it seems like every other house you see is brand new.

You can find homes from over 100 years old to "not done yet". I wish it were so simple to just jot down some zip codes. The Knoxville area is very diverse, so it really depends on what you are looking for, and your lifestyle.
What is the ideal location for some, would be the last place on earth for someone else. For instance, there are some lofts in the downtown area. These are perfect for a lot of people, and are pretty cool - but not for me. Some people would love to live near Turkey Creek and Farragut, and others avoid that area if they can. You need to spend some time and get to know the area, then find a Realtor to help you find the right home in the right area. We moved here from So CA in 94 and feel we couldn't have made a better choice. It's a great place. Good luck |

We are considering moving from Tampa, FL to Knoxville,TN (preferably West Knoxville) and would love to get some advice from people living in the area. I'm an aesthetician (skin care specialist) and was wondering about how the job market was in Knoxville.
Any information would be appreciated! Thank you so much! |

I can tell you zip 37919 is mostly older homes and we are considered on the edge of Knoxville (city limits). In fact there are still 2 homes classified as county, not city.
Unless OP likes train noise I suggest keeping 1/2 to 3/4 mile from the train tracks and in 37919 that could be difficult. Also shy away from I-40. The houses that are at the edge of I-40 on the north side get a lot of black tire dust and other pollutants from the traffic plus the noise factor to be considered. Middlebrook Pike is a good area to look at between Papermill and Cedar Bluff though Cedar Bluff is county. The big difference between city and county is in the county one needs to pay for Rural Metro which is the fire and ems service and county residents have to pay for their own trash removal. Taxes are lower but I don't know how much these other services are and the city has large item pick up, yard debris pickup for the seasons (leaves in fall and winter, limbs in spring and summer). Good luck with your move. |

Hi,
It would help if you told us types of housing you might be interested in. Knoxville has a lot of basement ranches and split and tri-level homes. There are TONS of newer homes past Ebonizer on Westland but am not sure of that zip code. They are probably considered county which means Rural Metro for fire and ems. Good looking homes though and I believe far enough from the train so noise should not be an issue. How much are you looking to spend maximum? This will be a factor because homes in Farragutt (sp) will be more expensive, in general, than in Knoxville. Do you want a lot of trees or few trees on your property? Older homes tend to have more trees and the newer homes, unless built with keeping the trees on the land, do not. Let me know if I can provide you any more information. Take care, |

Brief word of advice, to save my buddies SMG, JMT, LauraC, Barking Spider, OldmanBob and the rest of my TN gang the trouble, gotta be more specific. I do see this is your first post, but what do you do for a living? Do you have kids? City or country living? Help them so they can help you.
