Can you help me with ignorant drivers?
Does anything get thru to them? I'm assuming they're not trying to make us angry, they are simply not aware. I'm talking about people who the rules of the road don't seem to apply to. They drive real slow in the left lane and refuse to get over. They come to a complete stop when making a turn. The car 50 feet in front of them brakes, and they brake too. In other words, there is absolutely no consideration for the cars behind them. My husband and I just can't figure it out. Who teaches these people how to drive? (I'm assuming schools!)

The only way to cope with bad drivers is to drive away from them as quickly as possible. And if they're talking on the cell phone while eating a hamburger, scolding their child and checking their teeth in the rear view mirror, drive away even quicker.

That has always been my policy.
Never, ever, come to a complete stop while making a turn. And for the love of God, do not brake when someone in front of you is braking, too.
This sort of behavior should get you a ticket from Knoxville's finest and an insurance surcharge, to boot.
C'mon, y'all, let's stop following the rules of the road and give up our first place honor as America's safest drivers!
By the way, my husband has called Allstate and they said that this "Best Driver" stuff is a bunch of bunk, and Knoxville is actually a subdivision of Louisville, Kentucky.

I'm not sure what is sarcasm there and what's not.....I think it is ridiculous to come to a complete stop when making a turn. People driving 10 miles under the speed limit will break when there's absolutely no need to. Drivers here are afraid of something that I'm just not aware of.
I am filled with complete hatred for someone I am stuck behind that won't get over. It's not always possible to get away from them. I don't understand why they are torturing all the drivers behind them. Are they getting off playing God?
Again, my question is, who is teaching this kind of driving - if you're making a left turn, then get in the left lane as soon as possible and stay there, even if your turn is 20 MILES DOWN THE ROAD! Cops SHOULD pull those slow-pokes over, because they are not following the laws!

Going from NJ to Tennessee is going to require some time for adjustment.
I think one thing that will help is to make sure you leave yourself a few extra minutes' time in your trips, so that you can relax if you can't go as fast as you want, wave, smile and say "Bless your heart" as you pass.
A couple months of this and you'll be past your frenetic New Jersey driving hangups!

NJDevil, really, I love ya, but you just gotta calm down. If you want to drive like a maniac, you better hightail it back to Florida ASAP.
(I drive fast [5-10 over, always] and aggressive, too, but you just can't let the other drivers get to you.)

Sometimes it feels like someone who hates me alot, calls a bunch of idiots when they know I am about to leave the house, they tell the idiots to ALL get in my way and make my life a living hell. Its not paranoya if they really are out there trying to make it imposible to get where your going.
I go home and play a video game where I can drive into people, throw things like bombs at other cars and cause general mayhem.

NJDevil, have you ever tried to use a relaxation tape or CD while you are driving?
All of those things are really frustrating to me, too. Especially the slow poke who has to be in the left lane because their left turn is only 2 miles up the road.
Or, how about those drivers who think that they have to pull into the left lane and you are 1/2 car length back and, doggone, if they could just find their turn signal!!
Really, some people are just uncaring about others to begin with. You'll never change them or get through to them. And, every state in the country breeds them like hampsters.
Other people have no confidence behind the wheel. These are the brake-tappers and the 10mph in a 45 mph speed zone drivers.
We just have to let them go on their way, stay out of their path, and forget about it! There is not a single thing we can do to change it and I am certainly not going to get an ulcer over it!
(Hey, Lindsey_Mcfarren! Coming to TN? )

Is that the way it's done in NJ? I can't believe you don't think people should stop before they turn at an intersection.
How about drivers who crawl up people's butts because they didn't leave enough time to get to their destination?
