Which is the best hotel
Hello everyone,
My best friend and I are traveling to Knoxville in two weeks to check things out for her, she is hoping to move to Knoxville by this summer and my husband and I will be following in about 3 years. It is my job to find us a really nice hotel to stay in. Can anyone recommend one for us? We don't won't to pay for parking. And we don't won't to spend ALL OUR MONEY on high hotel bills. There are so many hotels to choose from but I rather hear the "natives" recommendation! Do any have mountain views?
We are so excited, I'm leaving my dear hubby behind to watch our cat and to work to pay for this trip!! LOL! Isn't he a sweetheart!
Anyway, looking forward to seeing your wonderful town! Thanks!!!

Moderator cut: * ok then...have you checked the hotel sites, I like orbitz, don't use travelocity, they screwed over friends of mine. These sites - along with google maps and tripadvisor - give you reviews. See if the Maplehurst Inn has availability, it's a very old building but nice enough if you like B&Bs (google it). Sonny is great, parking is free. But if you don't want to deal with downtown, then stay in west Knox somewhere. Lot of hotels on Peters Rd by Cedar Bluff. I am not aware of bad sections of that neighborhood. My husband and I love Best Westerns. We stayed at the one on Lovell, but that's pretty far west.

Depends on what you are looking for. The Hampton Inn downtown is "fairly" reasonable and may have reasonable rates. Good access to all downtown has to offer. Not sure about parking. Otherwise, lots of hotels in the Turkey Creek and Cedar Bluff area with a range of prices. Plenty of restaurants around there, too.

The downtown hotels will probably charge you for parking.
There are tons of places in Turkey Creek and near the Cedar Bluff exit @ I-40 along Peters Road. Many have breakfast deals.
You might try AAA guide for rates, etc, then call around. You will be a little early for spring color, but lots of plants are budding out, so it might be nice while you are here.
Hope you have a great time!!

We have stayed at Best Western exit 278 Cedar Bluff; it's beautiful. Hot breakfast; restaurants galore--I think it's Dave's Barbeque. And, yes, use AAA.

Turkey Creek area is loaded, with Mariotts, and just up the same rd, Jameson Inn, and the Holiday Inn at Cedar Bluff is good. On downtown, the Crown Plaza is great, and it has its own parking garage, that is included. Its a great place, as also is the Downtown Hilton, also having its own parking garage. Have fun, and enjoy!!

I second the downtown Hilton, but you do have to pay for parking.

If you want to be able to see the mountains from your hotel room, you will need to stay in one of the high rise hotels downtown. The Crown Plaza and the Marriott do have their own garages and I think parking is included. The Hilton definitely will charge extra to park.
Another option would be to stay closer to the mountains. There are motels at exit 407 off I-40, but be sure you get one closer to Sevierville because the ones at the exit are in a valley and you will not see the mountains. Staying in this area will put you as close to downtown as you would be staying in the Turkey Creek area of west Knoxville. Also you probably will find better rates and be closer to the Smokey Mountains.

If you want mountains cheap, and don't mind the long drive into Knoxville, stay in Sevierville. This is the off season, and you can probably get rooms for about $30 less a night than the equivalent in Knoxville. You will probably also get to see Sevier County without its infamous tourist traffic jams.
