If this still is planned - you could check out the Food City, located on Hwy 72 North in Loudon. Food City (the only grocery store in Loudon) is nice but not that nicer as Ralphs in California. There is several Kroger stores (parent company of Ralphs) in Farragut, Knoxville and Maryville. Lenoir City has Ingles, Food City, Save-A-Lot and Wal-Mart stores. Madisonville, probably the closest city to the village beside Loudon and Lenoir City has Ingles, Food Lion, Wal-Mart, Bargain Barn (now known as United Grocery) and Save-A-Lot. Kroger and sometime Food City were my preferred grocery stores when I lived in Loudon (5 minutes drive from the village.)
I recalled from the early 1990s, there were some talks about a grocery store in the village, I believe it was Food Lion that wanted to build a store there. I don't know why they have not built there.
If you enjoy folksy, gospel-type concerts, take a look at the Tate & Lyle Performing Arts Center website.

Where in TV are they going to locate the store? Did the article say? Not too long ago, Food Lion built a new store in a new shopping center in Kingston. I think it lasted a year before they gave up. Food City moved in.
A lot of people remember the expose ABC News did on Food Lion years ago. It turned a lot of stomachs. To this day, some people refuse to go into a Food Lion because of that story. I am married to one of them. Tellico Village has a lot of retirees who are likely to remember the story. I wonder if that Food Lion will survive.

It would be very interesting to see how Food Lion does in the Loudon/Tellico Village area.
In the 1990s, they talked about putting a grocery store on the same road where Texaco (or was it Exxon) fuel station is. I believe that is where the Tellico shopping center is located.

The article says the intersection of 72 and 444. From my limited knowledge of the layout of Tellico Village, a lot of people will be faced with the option of going shopping in one direction, where there is a grocery/pharmacy and a hardware store, versus going the other way to Lenoir City with all its variety, present and soon to come. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Does anyone know if the approvals are in hand, and this project is going forward?

Food Lion just broke ground in Tellico Village. With the rising gas prices, it is one of the most exciting thing happening to our end of town. They will be located next to 72- about 10 miles from the Ft.Loudoun bridge. I totally understand that for the other side of the village, it will be closer to shop in Lenoir City. For Rarity Bay and our end of the village it will be great having a closer option. MBarber

TN "locals" fear anything that is change I've heard this song and dance time and again. Too bad these "locals" never seem to understand that these "foreigners" bring much needed money into their local economy. Do they want Tn to continue to have some of the worst school systems in the country? Do they want some TN counties to continue to have average household incomes WAY below the poverty line? Outside investment=increased tax revenue=better schools=increased population=increased outside investment=higher standard of living.
